Catching the Lane Train.
Good damn gravy, news..moves and more news.. By now, I’m sure you all have heard the Josh McCown rumors…..ick. I’m not sure the guy could help our team with putting “dubs” in the right column. I mean, sure he’s another 60 percent passer, but let’s face it, he’s presently a backup and didn’t quite shoot the lights out in Arizona. On the other hand, the Free Agent Quarterback market has just about dried up with David Carr and Joey Harrington signing with Carolina and Atlanta.
Is this a message from Emperor Al Davis? Can we possibly go into regular season with a Rookie Quarterback? Will we only have Jamarcus Russell and Andrew Walter to battle to the death in Pre-season? The Lord of the Sith, master of all evil hopes not. A veteran can bring great knowledge to our Quarterback corps. I feel that going into the season with someone who at least has had some real playing time only benefits an already young Offensive team. I mean, even Alex Smith had Trent Dilfer..
Anyone hear the “Lane Train” Kiffen’s comments on several questions asked about:
Having the #1 pick?…
“It’s a great situation obviously. We’re the only ones that control are own destiny. Obviously, we’re looking at a number of options with players and also with trades”.
If they’re looking into anyone besides JAM Russell to be the #1 overall pick?
“There are a number of things you can go into.Like everybody, we’re going to sit down and figure out what’s best for our team and maybe not help our team today..maybe help our team in long term areas we have to develop.”
On the best receiver in the draft, Calvin Johnson:
“basically, perfect”
After realizing he might be giving too much to read into, Coach Kiffen went back to commenting about Russell:
“He’s not an in your face player, he’s calm. But the players, because of the way he does it by example and the way he works and the way he plays, they do follow him, that’s obvious. And if you have been around him, like at his pro day(workout), you could feel that, that whole building, that whole LSU (team), they follow the guy. That’s what you’re looking for.”
May God bless Mr. Darryl Stingley in Heaven. It’s a shame the man got hit/paralyzed by one of the most fearful NFL defenders, Jack Tatum.
The one thing I wanted to add that you probably haven’t heard about Mr. Stingley is that he was quite the ladies man, even after the accident. I only wish that was the entire point of this following story: Apparently, as told on the Dave Chappelle show DVD, (season 3) Charlie Murphy told a tale that involved himself, Eddie Murphy and the departed Stingley. Allegedly, all of the men were at a restaurant were Stingley’s women flocked over to hang with the infamous Eddie Murphy. Stingley was quite furious. Charlie stated the man was so pissed, that he kept heckling young Eddie and his crew from across the room, continuously. Charlie said he took the man’s comments lightly at first, but after several negative comments made by Stingley, Charlie had to threaten him. Yeah..Charlie threatened a guy in a wheelchair….like the guy didn’t have enough pain in his life!?!? Eddie was pretty pissed at Charlie afterwards. “You still him hear him now? Charlie erupted. Poor Darryl…don’t worry brother, you got all the women angels you could handle now and they’re never leaving your side.
How about our new schedule, Empire? Pretty appetizing, eh? All’s I really care about is opening with the Lions at home. With great victory, brings great momentum. If we can pull out that first win (and hopefully will), I believe we can have enough confidence to win the next one…and maybe the next one…the next one…and so on…
Ah, if only the force was THAT strong with us each and every year…
Keep it plata and negro!
