More Sandwiches

Now that’s more like it, Jam. That drive was marvelous, magical and mighty, boiiii!!
That kind of drive makes us die hard yocals feel all warm inside as we envision good things to come in 2008. That kind of drive brings hope to the future of the Oakland Raiders….
JaMarcus Russell is for real. While the Raiders second-year QB was shaky early (3-of-5 for 7 yards on Oakland’s first three drives), he bounced back and proved why he was the No. 1 overall pick in 2007. Russell showed mobility, avoiding an aggressive Titans pass rush on a rollout to hit TE Zach Miller for a touchdown, and a strong arm throughout the game, finishing 10-of-17 for 75 yards and the touchdown.
The real fans witnessed this tight connection at the end of last year. After all of the turmoil, after the training wheels finally broke off, after all the half ass Raider fans left the stadium to beat the traffic…there was something brewing between #80 and #2..
and I’m happy as hell they’re still working on being Oakland’s version of the infamous “Dynamic Duo”.
I mean, who else could join Jam? Javon “Make it rain with Champagne” Walker?!?
Foo, please…
I’m sure you read the latest Kiffin comments on ol’ J-Dub…
“The discouraging play was Javon dropping that slant pass on third down, our first shot at keeping a drive alive,” Kiffin said.
“There’s a couple of balls there that we would have liked him to come up with. At the end of everything, all that matters as you take everything in is how do you perform on game day,” Kiffin said. “For him not to make those plays or the first game there was a fade that we throw to him that he didn’t go up and get, that’s discouraging because he was paid an awful lot of money, paid like one of the top five receivers in the NFL. We need him to make those plays.”
Ouch.. I would think there’s a serious problem on deck if Javon doesn’t come up with a few grabs and big yardage this Saturday against the Cards. His future playing time and entire Football career may depend on it.
So with Adimchinobe Echemandu’s great showing last Friday (3 for 77 yards in the second half) that makes us FIVE deep in the Running Back position. Man, our Back scouts are looking better and better as the weeks pass. I’m tellin’ ya, give those guys raises!!!
What happens next? Oren O’ Neal for 150 yards? Hey, you stick to blocking, big brother!
Johnnie Lee Higgins..WTF?
That was the difference in the game, son! You’d think a good returner would know when to let a Football sail into the End Zone…
but NOooooooooo! You HAD to try to make a play.
Learn and get on it, sir. I don’t care if you don’t have other guys competing for your job to motivate you. You want to beat someone? Beat the guy who fumbled in the End Zone last Friday!!!! Auughh!
Rob Ryan….congratulations, you’ve found out how to blitz again! Unbelievable!! The Lord of the Sith is still trying to figure out why you abandoned the best defensive play in the playbook in the first place! Thomas Howard and Kirk Morrison, this could mean more Sack Sandwiches in the near future for ya both!! Stay Hungry, men!!!!
Praise the damn Force!
Notes on our next Victim…
Raiders/ Cardinals Pre Season Series:
This Saturday night’s game marks the 11th preseason game between the Raiders and Cardinals, with the Raiders holding a 7-3 advantage.
Raiders/ Cardinals Regular Season Series:
The Raiders hold a 5-2 advantage over the Cardinals since they first met in 1973.
Last time in Pre Season, the Oakland Raiders defeated the Arizona Cardinals 27-23 at McAfee Coliseum in Oakland on August 11, 1007. RB Adimchinobi Echemandu rushed 17 times for 75 yards and DB Hiram Eugene returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown.
Let’s hope Saturday’s outcome mirrors the last..
Go S n B!!!!
Cheers,
Darth Raider

Interesting article. It is the first time I read one of yours.
Agree on the JR thing. Agree on the Miller thing. I think Miller will be a huge help this season, and if the Oline steps up and at least one of our WRs becomes relevant, Miller will be even better.
However, I’m hoping for McF and JR to become the “dynamic duo”.
I remember watching Eche last year in preseason and thinking “man, where did this guy come from?” Then he was released. Then signed by Houston and I thought, man, Houston just got another diamond in the rough thrown away by the raiders. Apparently, I was wrong. He played for Houston, a bit. And then was released. Now he’s back. Looked good in one preseason game. And I’m back at square one. So I’m just not going to expect the worse and hope for the best.
JLH, well… put it this way. If he’s the best we got at returning kicks, so good that “there’s just no one else”…. we got problems.
Rob Freaking Ryan. Keep it up big boy.
And, Al Davis must really be older than dirt. If he had the Raiders around “August 11th, 1007″ playing football games…for a million bucks, can you name who the QB was?
~May I be with you always.
