Ready for War

Final Cuts?
Not alot of surprises indeed.
Despite all of the cuts, number and roster changes, it appears we’re still the same damn team to love and hate.
The Oakland Raiders are still a young, powerful, run oriented team that still has a lot to prove on the defensive side of the ball.
The Lord of the Sith just hopes we finally have enough weapons to stop the run.
Our team still has the dominant Pro Bowler which is Derrick Burgess, but will any of the other Ends, Tackles and Backers be able to hold up the likes of LT (SD) , Selvin Young (DEN) and LJ (KC) twice this year?
If anyone really knows the AFC West, they know it’s all about the winners of the divisional match-ups that matter the most…
and the easiest way to accomplish that task?
..stop the damn run.
I know Tommy Kelly playing in the 3 technique gives us somewhat of an advantage from last year, but I can’t help but wonder about the durability of the “Tommy Gun”.
7 games last year and that was it….on to the IR couch.
That injury in my mind was the difference of what was once an OK run stopping Defense….
to a horrible run stopping Defense.
People still are scratching their heads wondering if the injury prone Kelly deserved that much in the off season…
Time will only tell if the price on the wide wall of Warrior was well spent.
Anyone catch the last Raider’s pre-season game?
Yes, I’m sensing you wished you missed it as well..
At least Drew Walter showed up (16/24, 162 yards). Every time I see this kid I wonder if he will eventually take his game to the next level or just stay on the sideline forever with a clipboard attached to his mitts. Eh, at least you didn’t lose your job to Tui.
Talk about staying on the sideline..that boy has cobwebs in his armpits from standing in one place for so long…
JK, Marques..that TD was kinda nice..Tui! Tui! Tui!
Darren McFadden keeps getting better every time the Rook touches the ball. 4 ATT for 50 yards???? I know a lot of Seattle’s starters weren’t in… but daaayyyyyuuumm, this kid is impressive!
The only question now is will Run DMC be a Reggie Bush kind of impressive (565 yards, Rookie year) or more in the mold of of a Mr. Adrian Peterson?? (1,341 yards, Rookie year!!)
Hey man…whatever it takes to win the game.
Bear jr. Fargas and the battle Bush will also have to get their yards accordingly.
Man, I can’t wait to see what our triple threat can accomplish this year..sky’s the limit!!!
I hope everyone knows the importance of the Denver game. You can say they suck if you would like, but you have to realize this team was league ranked 5th in points (22.8), 7th in rushing yards (135.5) and 5th in yards gained (336.0). They also are STILL pretty good at stopping the run. (8th; 93.8)
In addition to these strengths, Jay Cutler looked like he was in great shape during the pre-season…
Can we pressure him?
Oh, hellllllll yeah…especially knowing Ryan wants to blitz this year..
Can we beat this team?
I can’t see why the f%^& not. We beat ‘em last year!!!!!!!!
..and we’ll beat them again!!!!!!!
Bring your A game voice come Monday night, Nation.
We’re about to play in one of the most biggest games in the Kiffin era. It’s been a very long time since our team has accomplished a 1-0 record..
Break on progress!!!!
1-2-3 PROGRESS!!!!!!!
pride and peace,
-DR

Darth,
As always an excellent article, yet again a refreshing review of the Raiders. I will be attending my first ever game at the Coliseum on Monday Night with my father. Any pointers you would care to share with a first timer?
Keep up the good work!

Hello Barry! Thanks for the praise! Welcome to my second home..the Oakland Coliseum!
Tips:
1) Shout when the Defense takes the field.
2) Stand and Shout like you never shouted before on 3rd down.
3)Give hell to the fan opposition. Make ‘em afraid..teach them to respect.
4)Celebrate 1st downs (they don’t come easy!) High fives, hugs and pounds are allowed to your fellow neighbor!
5)Look me up in section 127 row 8 (or nearby) for a picture!
Have a hell of a time!
