These aren’t the Droids you’re looking for.

Stop the madness. I know you’ve read every bit of discouraging Oakland Raider article by now..
why punish yourself even further??
Fine, read my blog then off to bed, young man…
Sure, I know you’ve seen more discipline in a Kindergarten classroom..
Right, I know you want to throw several hundred beer cans at “No-D” Hall right about now..
I also sense you want to fire Kiffin, bench J-Russ and suit up at Guard for Paul McQuistan, who appears to be out for the season..
I say again, please…. for the love of the Force..
STOP THE MADNESS!
It was one game. Move on and prepare for next week. Sure, it’s cliche’, but an honest cliche’.
Truth be told, it was a terrible day for us and our beloved team. The Secondary had given up more plays than an I-pod, the D-line ran into several brick walls (ONCE AGAIN) and our Supermen like Linebackers played like they just swallowed Kryptonite before the game.
The Offense wasn’t any better. The O-line surrendered sacks, the Running Backs were not as effective as the Coaching banter had previously indicated and the Offense itself remained to appear something cheaper then Vanilla. (uh, water with added sugar?)
Hell with it, I’ve moved on. After all of these years, I seem to have adapted that familiar NFL reaction/emotion after watching many Oakland Raiders interview after a bad loss:
forgetful.
No,you didn’t see Ronald Curry drop that ball..in the past, he’s caught more balls than a Circus Fish bowl…couldn’t have been him…
The O-line gave up sacks? Really? Well, it wasn’t the same Sack total as the last Monday nighter against SD was it?
Superb!!!!!!!!
D hall was used like a car rag? Hmph, I must of been buying my $8.00 Coliseum beer right about then..
ok, several beers…
Seriously, the players know WTF they did wrong. Coach Kiffin knew what they did wrong and of course, most of the Die hard Fans knew as well..(Ok, some..we’re a dying breed).
In my opinion, I think the team will do whatever it takes to correct their numerous mistakes.
Curry will learn to catch the pop flys again.
Russell will learn how to throw it away and run with the ball when the situation calls for it.
D Hall will dispose of his burnt uniform and will eventually gain back his confidence. (mmm…hopefully)
Etc., Etc.
After watching more Football than an NFL Scout, I now realize that Football is all about momentum. If you have it? You try to continue to achieve it. If you lose it after achieving?
Your team’s in for a long, negative and cursed night.
If Jam didn’t turn over that ball and scored on the opening drive, we could of observed an actual game rather than an ass beatin’. Denver already had a 7-0 lead and never looked back from that point, putting up 27 points before Oakland even got on the scoreboard.
If Denver was actually called for that TOTALLY OBVIOUS P.I. call on Zack Miller?
If Curry didn’t have mustard on his hands for that wide open catch?
If D Hall didn’t go Wrestlemania on that out of bounds tackle?
You get the idea… momentum can be your best friend and your worst enemy.
I still think this team has potential to make some great plays . As many bad ones as we witnessed, I still keep thinking about the hit Pro Bowler, Nnamdi Asomugha put on Jay Cutler when trying to scramble towards his side of the field..
BOOM! Hip check!!!
Let’s rewind that yet again..
BAMMMMM!!!
OWWwww!
AHHhhhhhhh!
D-Mac put some moves on the D at times, didn’t he? Hope that injury stinger heals before this Sunday..This kid will improve with every carry given to him..
Fargas is the forever Workhorse. 97 yards isn’t setting the World on fire, but know that your work ethic is duly noted in the eyes of the Sith Lord ,sir.
Johnnie Lee Higgins? Damn, kid…did you redeem yourself or what?
You know…isn’t that what Football is all about? Yesterday’s fallen zero is today’s game Hero?? It can happen to anyone in the NFL. You only need to believe..
I just hope the rest of the team can mimic that same kind of philosophy in the next several weeks before the team remembers…
wait, was there a game played yesterday????
These aren’t the Droids you’re looking for..
Ignorance is bliss..
indeed, my friends.
Let’s just now focus on the chump Chiefs.
Team…
Redeem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
til next week,
-DR

My outlook is just about the same as yours; it’s 1 game & we have at least 15 more to go! We were competitive for the first half but that’s what young teams do, fade in the second. The defense did look better against the run but that soft zone coverage has GOT to go! Offensively, Russell had good huddle command & didn’t look too rattled or confused (except for the play that he should have threw it away), so I believe he”ll improve with time. Again, we’re a young team, so hopefully we’ll get better as the weeks go by.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:03 am
All this x 5 years.
In reference towards criticism towards the team, you say stop the madness? How about something being done to stop the madness in reference to our 19 wins the last 5 (going on 6) years?
The Raiders are one of the most historically significant franchises in the history of the NFL. A proud franchise. The Raiders were never meant to be in the class of the Cardinals, Lions or 70s and 80s Buccaneers.
When exactly is it going to be not humiliating to be a Raiders fan? 2012? 2015? Like any other team, we have gone through rough stretches, but not like this.
Its nauseating and I can’t take much more of it.
September 10th, 2008 at 3:47 am
ouch i took the night off of work for that. Even worse
I live in Bristol CT home of espn and you know how much love we get from them. My look at the game the offense after it settled down wasnt horrible I see some upside brewing there. The defense well putrid would be nice hey rob ever here of blitzing against the titans in pre season you did it put some pressure on the qb give the dbs a chance

I like to take about 24 hours before I even comment on Monday night’s mess.
The best I can come up with is that the offense is going to get better and it will be fun to watch. Remember, Russell is very young. Special teams will be OK.
My biggest concern is the pathetic showing by the defensive line. EVERYTHING on defense starts with that unit. I believe that this is the weakest unit on the team but they have to at least have some intensity.
As Darth has said let’s move on to the Chefs. I have seen many strange things and momentum is a big factor in this game.
I hope the defensive line will be in a bad mood after watching film of the ass kicking they took. This is now about pride and I sure hope they have some.

I completely understand that you’re trying to look at the bright side of this, but it’s hard to look at the glass half full. I mean, how can you get beat that badly after pounding the broncos last year. The last time we played them we completely controlled the game. First, we thought we upgraded our secondary with D-Hall and Wilson… Bring back Fabian Washington, because he gave up less catches on his side. I liked Wilson’s physical play, but in the passing game he isn’t a factor. Another question: Where was the pass rush? I didn’t hear Burgess’ name all night. Tommy Kelly seemed to play the run well early, but wore down as the game went on. As for our other D-Tackles, well, Fred Wakefield had to replace them… The pass defense was supposed to be our strongest asset, turns out to be a weak link. On offense, I actually don’t blame the players. I think the playcalling was horrible. Running the ball all the way to the goal line and then calling one pass on third down? Can you say predictable? Russell had no time to throw the damn ball and it slipped out because he was nervous. They have to let him get comfortable before trying to make a big TD pass. They should have opened up with a pass to get him in a rhythm. Running backs averaged good yards per carry, but the running game is thrown out the window when you’re down that much. As far as the receivers, well… They wouldn’t even make a college team.

Upon learning that Coach Kiffen believes that several players weren’t giving their best effort,( I would assume the players in question were playing defense),it would seem to confirm my suspicion that Scholarship Caveman & Co, having nothing to fear from an emasculated Head Coach, the players - banking roughly a million a month each, simply are responding as human nature would suggest and truely lack sufficent motivation to succeed.( Nnamdi-you are excused…).

The trenches my dark lord, the trenches are where the battle is won. Can we not address the trenches sometime in the future?
September 10th, 2008 at 8:11 am
Let us not lose sight of the fact that despite the horrific situation that Coach Kiffin is now in,( admitedly by his own choosing…), he has continued to develop the offense; I know ZBS has it’s detractors, I’ve heard it said that the physical requirements for ZBS would seem to be at the expense of pass blocking-(Denver runs the same scheme, against us… Jay Cutler looked like the Statue of Liberty). We do ,however have a future star in D-Mac, possibly in Russell and Miller as well, ….Is it possible that…( don’t faint)…If Al Davis can me made to understand that the players simply will not respect Coach Kiffin ,( or any proposed replacement-e.g. James Lofton),until that coach is allowed to install a Defensive Coordinator of his own choosing, we may , at least put THAT issue to bed……Al Davis’ routinely horrendous draft selections and absurdly out of touch gargantuan payouts for players that have questionable talent, disipline or character, would remain an issue, but one out of two aint bad…
September 10th, 2008 at 8:16 am
As terrible as the game was, I don’t think we need to mention anything about the offence. Anyone who says that the offence was a problem in this game is severly incorrect.
The O had no chance to succeed the way the game transpired. You can’t run the ball down 17-0 early(at least not as much as the raiders would like). I was actually very pleased with what I saw out of Jamarcus Russell. He made some very good throws, and other than the crucial turnover in the redzone on the first drive, I think he did a super job in terrible situation. If he can play like that as the season moves forward the Raiders should be able to win some ballgames….
The defense on the other hand, shame on all of you. The lack of intensity was palpable. It was just a terrible thing to watch. There is WAY too much talent on that D for a game like that to happen. From the lack of pass rush, to the just horrific pass defense, the utterly terrible gameplan by the coaches. We can’t blitz once in the game? Really? Dissapointing to say the least. It should make for an uncomfortable sunday for us Raider fans at Arrowhead this sunday. Atleast until the Raiders give the Cheifs a taste of humble-pie that is. The game in KC is still not a sell-out. I think the KC fans see the writing on the wall for their team as well this year.

Hi Lord,…hey I miss seein ya prowl the steps between 126 and 127,..Im in 131 now,..cool area I guess,…ya bro it was a real bummer monday night,…what a way to start the season huh?….Lord as I sit here I dont have the answers, and neither does Lane,..just popped in to say hello,…hang in there Lord.
September 10th, 2008 at 9:08 am
Its plain and simple: AD has ignored drafting talent for the “O” & “D” lines and put all of his confidence in Rob Ryan & Tom Cable. Both of these guys will never win at the NFL level. WE did not need McFadden, the Raiders needed the draft the Chefs had. The level of talent on the lines is worse than the 2006 dissaster and it appears Kiffin does not have the respect of his players or his coaches.

Here are my comments on the game, and AFTERMATH. I have posted as well the 5 keys to victory I had emailed my dad Monday morning, with new comments of what we observed:
“1. Stop the run. We expect the Doncos to stack 8, but seriously, we should do the same. We need to give our front 4 help in stuffing the run. STOP THE RUN! Do not give up big plays on the run.”
We did a great job stopping the run, until the middle of the 3rd Quarter. The mentality to stopping the run SHOULD help create pressure in the passing game by using 8 to disguise blitz packages. Culter looked like Montana, because we gave him all the time in the world to throw. I wanted to see Cutler get hit more, the way Nnamdi blew him up.
“2. Special Teams. We have to play smart on Special Teams. Higgins cannot afford to make a catch on a ball inside the 20 yard line. He should stand on the 20, and if it is over his head, let it go. Janikowski has to be consistent when called upon for Field Goals, and our punt/kick off coverage has to be crisp. This part of the game is always HUGE against Division Rivals.”
We did an okay job with Kick offs and Punt coverage. Kiffin killed us not going for the Field Goal on our first drive. I thought he learned his lesson last year that you ALWAYS go for the points. Points build confidence, something the Raiders need and lack severely.
“3. DeAngelo “Dante” Hall. Cutler referred to DeAngelo as “Dante” Hall (Former WR for the Chefs). This tells me they are going to attack DeAngelo, and get him to make mistakes. He also said that they watched endless tapes of DeAngelo with Atlanta to get a feel for his style of play. They are going to attack him in the passing game. Either he needs to step up big, or we need Gibril Wilson to slide over and help him.”
How do you not bench him after the 2nd personal foul penalty for a drive? How do the refs not eject him from the game after 2 personal fouls? He was flustered all night by Royal (a rookie). And how do you not build his confidence by blitzing him to make a play, and not giving him help from Wilson? Unbelievable! There was a lot of “comments” about both calls, but I think he was flagged for the first one, not because he took him down out of bounds, but because of the Horse Collar grab he had. The second one is debatable. More on this later.
“4. Pass Protection. Run blocking is the easiest thing a lineman can do. They could run block all day. But the game of Football is a game of Balance. As much as we could run, we need to pass the ball as well. When we pass the ball, we need good (not outstanding) protection for Russell to make his checkdowns and get the ball out.”
Our O-line suprisingly gave Russell a good amount of time to check down his receivers; again until the 3rd Quarter. This is where Russell excelled. He was able to get his passes to his receivers with great accuracy, giving us a great opportunity to score. Oakland beatwriter for the Sacramento Bee, Jason Jones, blogged that there was one play where Russell aired it out to Curry (wide open), and the Denver Coaches were heard in their box yelling, “OH S***!” He had great pocket presence, and had great, accurate passes; and average protection all night.
“5. This leads me to the next natural spot on the passing game. The WR’s. They need to get their routes done quickly, and catch the ball. We have not seen quick route-running since Brown-Rice. This is what our passing game has lacked with the Quitter, and the Pouter. The only WR who’s worked hard for us has been Curry. The bottom line is we need crisp, quick route running; with consistent catching.”
After the Denver coaches were heard yelling from that pass to Curry, they collectively had a big sigh of relief because he started to pull up from his route, then realized the ball was coming to him, and couldn’t bring it home. Russell and the O-Line did their part, the rest of the receivers (excluding Chaz and Lelie), didn’t do their parts. Too many balls on the turf. They did not help Russell out at all!
My take overall:
The only poor play was from DeAngelo Hall and the Receivers, but the coaching staff did nothing to build their confidence. When your team starts dropping their heads (like the Raiders did on the no call defensive holding after the 4-and-1 play) the coach has to collect his team and build there confidence. Defensively, if you’re getting burned by ONE player, and you’re not getting pressure, you need to create pressure and build the confidence of your corner by giving him opportunities to make plays. Why not blitz Hall on Cutler? Get him in there making plays, rebuilding his confidence. How do you not give him help from Wilson or Huff? How do you not tell him to play the scrimmage on this rookie and jam him at the line? Horrible! This game reflected poorly on the coaching staff of the Oakland Raiders.
Kiffin made some terrible calls as well. He proved to me that he is not NFL Coaching material, and needs to spend time under a valid Head Coach as Offensive Coordinator first. In the Red Zone on 4th and 1, early in the game; you go for the POINTS! I can understand you were trying to build confidence on your offense; but you reward their play by going for the POINTS! POINTS! build confidence. You are in a rivalry game, down 7-0, you reward the play of the offense and rebuild the defense’s confidence by putting POINTS! on the board. Gutsy call, just wrong time for it. I thought he learned this lesson last season. He did nothing to get his teams’ head up after the no penalty call where the Doncos held Zach Miller. NOTHING! He should have come back to that same play. The difference is, a CHAMPION goes right back out the next play, punches their opponent in the face, and flips off the Referee for the “non-call.” Kiffin is content in letting his players hang their heads.
The other drive we had that Quarter on offense, we were moving the ball well, and starting to get a rhythm with the passing game, and Kiffin calls for a Reverse? Are you kidding me? This isn’t college bro. You don’t build confidence back by calling for “trick plays.” You build confidence by continuing to make those plays that are working. What was working was the running game (of course), quick slant passes, and skinny post routes. He called for a reverse to “Sure Hands” Higgins, and that play cost us 15 yards killing our drive and our spirits. I looked at my buddy Edwin and I said, “It’s over!” Again, a gutsy call, but wrong time. You make the 4th and 1, and this call late in the game when you have the opponent on their heels, and you’re looking to drive the stake home. Not when you’re trying to build the confidence and swagger back in your team. How do you not continue to build up what is working, and build the confidence of a struggling offense? Why do you call for the “trick play” there, and not the second half? Kiffin proved to me that he is not an NFL coach Monday Night, and needs to go. If not after this Sunday, then it will happen during the Bye Week.
By not moving the ball, we wore our own defense out. But at the same time, we shot ourselves in the foot early by not creating pressure defensively. The first drive of the game, we had Denver on Third and Nine, twice. We didn’t blitz or put pressure on Cutler, they get the first down both times, and eventually score the opening TD. Then we were content to let Cutler and Royal take their time and pick us apart.
I think both Kiffin and Ryan need to be fired. Kiffin for the above reasons. Here’s why I think Ryan needs to go. I don’t think he sees eye to eye with Kiffin, because he knows Kiffin is not built to be an NFL Coach. I think when the offense didn’t get points on the first drive, Ryan said to himself, “Okay dude, if you’re not going to reward your offense for their work; and help our defense build confidence; I’m not going to help you out” and didn’t call his best game. I truly think that pressuring the QB with disguised blitzes, and other schemes was the game plan (listen to ALL the coaches talking about it leading up to the week); and when Kiffin didn’t go for 3; Ryan’s attitude was more about “teaching Lane a lesson” than it was about the team, and it showed in his demeanor and comments after the game (about lack of moving the ball offensively wears your defense out. How can your defense be worn out if you didn’t do anything?). This is the reason why I think both need to go. Ryan deserved a shot at HC at the time we hired Kiffin because of his LEADERSHIP! I believed that then, and I still believe it today. But if he showed the same leadership now as he did under Norv and Art Shell, I think he’s our HC today. But because he is bent on teaching Lane a lesson about how to coach in the NFL (not too mention the fact that he wanted out after last season for the same reason); he’s clearly quit on this team, and needs to go. But who do you replace either one with at this point?
A terrible display of coaching, a terrible display of discipline, and a terrible display of football. I’m speechless, and all I can say and think is, “Here we go again.”
September 10th, 2008 at 9:19 am
It appears that the Raiders have left something very critical behind when they failed to culimate their near -perfect season in 2003 — their heart. When Gruden pirated our playbook, we rolled over and took it in the AFC ass. And now what? We have sub-par EVERYTHING. I am sick of hearing that we’re young, we’re misguided, we’re unmotivated. And I can no longer be proud of the best punter in the league… seriously?!?? WHY DO WE HAVE THE BEST PUNTER IN THE LEAGUE??!? Because he kicks all the freakin’ time, that’s why. WTF, Raiders?!? The bottom line is that we have no heart. We have no reason, other than collecting a paycheck as another fan here mentioned, to show up for work every day. I know that everyone and every regime has their downfall (”Hello, is George Steinbrenner there, please?”), but please. This is a group of professional athletes who do what they love and love what they do. Yes, forget this MNF debacle and move on. But move on with purpose. If the Raiders find their hearts, they will once again find their name in lights, right next to that of Lombardi. And they just might prove to us once again that the Autumn wind is indeed a Raider.
September 10th, 2008 at 9:46 am
you’re much too generous about “angelo” hall (there was no D).
he made the same bonehead plays back when he played for the falcons. in a very famous meltdown played over and over on espn, he cost his team field position so badly that the falcons suspended him.
and now he’s bringing that same temperment to the raiders. how much free real estate did the broncos receive just because of angelo’s penalties?
and he’s a pro bowl shutdown cornerback? how much real estate did he give up to a ROOKIE WIDE RECEIVER on national television?
his jersey ain’t burnt. emperor angelo has no clothes.
September 10th, 2008 at 10:15 am
I have woken from my stuper.. Was it real? Did that just happen? Is this a nightmare? Am I in HELL? WTF was that? WOW, can you say hoodwinked!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 10th, 2008 at 10:44 am
Darth,
have a look at the kiffin review blog bro. start at 787 with Max E Padd, and my response at 790 then read all below it. what do you think? I am dead serious about this, if even for the buzz and the energy it will create in the Nation. Read on, my email is in one of the posts if you want to hit me up.
September 10th, 2008 at 11:08 am
you are a deluded fool darth, sorry to say.
September 10th, 2008 at 11:25 am
“couldn’t of been him”
… couldn’t HAVE been him…
jeez
September 10th, 2008 at 11:48 am
I agree with RaiderKat, this team has absolutely no heart. It is bereft of any spirit any pride which was once the hallmark of this organization.
This is just sad.
September 10th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
And, typical of Al Davis, the solution will be to fire the head coach…the one guy trying to change things. The best way to describe Al Davis is like a parent who hires a babysitter to babysit his unruly, pain in the ass, hell spawned children with every behaviorial and attention disorder imaginable, Then blames the baysitter when he comes home to see that the kids have ramsacked the house, as they do every day even when mom and dad are there anyway. There is no better way to describe the way he treats his coaches. Bottom line: The Raiders lose year after year because Al Davis created, cultivates, and maintains this losing environment, and gets offended when anyone takes a stand and tries to change it. If Lane is canned before we get a win, we really might make history and put up the goose egg this season, with our 16th loss coming to none other than Jon Gruden. If things go right for Kiffin, Gruden will pick him up as an assistant and Kiff will be right there to dance on the 50 yard line, in his pewter pullover, as the 0-16 Raiders sulk off to the locker room. Keep it up, Al. Don’t act like it can’t happen. Remember, you scoffed at people who insisted you’d have to face Gruden in the Super Bowl when you traded him, too. Al, your karma’s so bad that usually when people bring forth disastrous scenarios involving you, they pan out true. I’d take them seriously.
September 10th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Bottom line is Kiffin and Ryan got out coached again by the Rat. Kiffin stated last week that he does not put to much into division games. Well wake up coach because the Rat likes nothing more than beating the Raiders. Ryan once again proved to the Nation why he should not be there. He has no clue as to whats going on and does not make the proper adjustments. I will not blame Big Al because he went out and brought in top notch players during the offseason. If these players are not ready for prime time and a big division game. Then that falls on the coaches. Oh well back to the drawing board and get ready for KC.
September 10th, 2008 at 12:25 pm
No more negativity…next play….
September 10th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
Here’s what we need:
A extremely fast wide receiver:
Height:6 ft 5 in
Weight: 190 lb
Usain Bolt
If he can catch ;^)
September 10th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
raider4life..i’ll read..
Corrected, Scott..thanks. (like any of us use proper English anymo!)
and you give up on your team WAY 2 E-Z, Wingman.
0-1? Fine, let’s cash it in!!

THE LAUGHABLE RAIDERS ACCORDING TO THE TWERP
The Raiders are to the NFL what Steven Seagal is to acting: Awful.
TWERPING TRUTH
Has the bubble burst for the Ostrich Nation which follows every breathe that The Al takes?
Let’s update the Raiders’ abysmal five year and counting run:
Raiders: 19-62.
TWERP’S FINAL THOUGHTS
Where are those buffoons who predicted 10,11, or 12 win Raider season?
Go, crazy, Raider Nation, go crazy.
Your Raiders are hapless, hopeless, and horrid.
It’s the old Dodger war cry for you, “Wait till next year” after one 2008 game. Your team is that pathetic.
The 2009 season is far away for the Ostrich Nation who filled McAfee.
The Silver & Hapless are bringing up the rear in the NFL, neck and neck with the Rams.
The Raiders… what a laughingstock. The other 31 NFL cities thank the Raider organization for the comic relief.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Only thing we can take from this game is that it’s only game 1, and we have 15 more to play! We are definetly the laughing stock of the league the last couple years. Al Davis is so *uckin stubborn in his ways that he won’t let Kiffin do what he was brought in to do. If u don’t want him, then fire the dude already! we know u have money so pay the dude and let him walk. All this Marcus Allen, Mike Shanahan bullshit ur doing is sickening!!! Better yet, sell the rest of ur shares in the team, and go buy u another one. As a true Raider fan I tired of this BS year after year!
September 10th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
No one is bigger than the team, NOT even u AL!!!
September 10th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
As far as the game. The D was terrible, and we looked confused both offensively and defensively. Special teams played solid. Man to man or zone coverage wasn’t good at all. They outschemed and outplayed us, period! It was mostly caused by no pressure on the quarterback. I just don’t understand why Ryan doesn’t blitz alot with the speed we have on defense? This base defense trash doesn’t work. Doesn’t he see that our D-Line aren’t in shape yet and we need to apply pressure using some of our other personnel. I keep saying it, year after year, that we must get an elite pass rusher to apply pressure on the quarterback. We have too much invested in DT’s. DE is the position where the money needs to go. Everyone needs to get off of Deangelo Halls back, yeah he was givin the business by the young rookie, but why? No pressure at all by the DE’s or DT’s. Those were 2 bad calls on Deangelo Hall. Last year I saw our Qb Josh Mccown get pummeled while on the ground and no flags were thrown for personal foul. Deangelo tackled the dude in bounds, and could have slammed the dude if he wanted, but he didn’t. Ref threw the flag when he saw the reaction of the broncos bench act like he killed the dude. 2 bogus personal foul calls on deangelo resulting in a touchdown. Michael Huff gets hit blindside on the big gain by TE Sheffler and no flag was thrown, but a few plays earlier on kickoff, Hiram Eugene was called for a so-called blindside hit which resulted in Johnnie Lee Higgins punt return being placed back at the 10 yard line, where we should have been around the 40? All I’m saying is, call the game fair on both sides. The refs screwed us on a couple calls, and mostly happens against the Broncos for some apparent reason.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
They didn’t even TRY to blitz…Not ONCE…(at least from I saw)…
We must win against KC or we are fooly trucked!!
Bf-109G
September 10th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
The blame goes to everyone! From Al Davis to the coaches, personnel department, and the players! We were out classed in every aspect of the game.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Fuck yo couch, Nagga.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
All i keep hearing is how aggressive the Raider defense is? We are soft as wonder bread if u ask me! what aggressiveness, we barely blitz the qb at all. We seem to read react alot with our defense and we’re not that cerebral of a team so why are we doing it? We should be an aggressive attack, blitzing team like the Philadelphia Eagles. Atleast they create havok if they get beat.
September 10th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
We look so basic in our defense too much. We must start making teams fear us again by sending blitzes from every angle. That makes qb’s nervous in the pocket.

True, it is only one game and there are 15 more but those of us who have been at this for 35+ years through thick and thin can see a pattern re-emerging.
Ah well, it is the end. As expected, the defense let an opponent score on the opening drive. As expected, the Raiders did not seem energetic or charged up while Denver was. As expected, the players could not execute properly on offense and defense. As expected, this is still the same old Raiders of the past 5 years, not the Raiders of old when Tim Brown was around or when Gruden was still here. Having seen the mess that was Monday, this team will be lucky to repeat 4-12. More like 2-14 after some lucky bounce. By end of this season, Kiffin will be fired and it will start all over again. Pride and Poise is now just Puff and Poof.
This whole mess starts with Davis down to Kiffin who openly criticized his team in public to the players. Mostly, I fault Davis and Kiffin with Davis shouldering more of the blame. There is no longer a tight team chemistry, it is every man for himself. Each player seems here to make a dollar and waiting for the day to go elsewhere.
I am retiring by end of September and moving out of CA so I am done anyway. Was hoping to reserve tickets and rooms and still come to see the games and also go on road-games like I have always wanted to do over 35 years. Not this season.
Good luck to you new generations of Raiders fans. I sincerely hope your passion and loyalty to the team will be rewarded when a new owner emerges to create a top notch organization that focuses on true professionalism. Only then will the team begin to win again.
Sayonara Raider Nation!

This team’s in for a long, negative and cursed year.
Al Davis must go.
September 10th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
Al Davis’s legend is going to be a losing stubborn owner.
Idiot

Kenny king..agree completely. Raiders will lose all division games and maybe get 2 or 3 wins elsewhere. Al has to fire himself..nothing will change until this happens. I lost all passion for this team a few years ago. At least my Sundays are free now

Davidon and Kerry King… it’s ok that you’re feeling down. Male menopause is common for older individuals like yourselves that have decreased self-confidence, increased depression, and who have small or shinking testes. Projecting your anger towards Raider losses is not the proper way to resolve your own issues. Steps that may help you are eating and staying active, talking to your doctor about your sexual problems, and seeking each other when you are feeling down. Remember, you don’t have to go through your male menopause alone especially when you have each other.

Like Darth said lets move on and be ready for KC. It ain’t over till the fat lady sings and she’s no where to be seen. So Raiders, man up, learn from the mistakes evident on national television and show the Raider Nation that you know what pride means!
I’d like to see McFadden and Bush in the game at the same time or McFadden and Fargas. Bush impressed Kiffin during the preseason and he completed several passes for major gains during his days at U of L.

Yes, I agree lets move on but we need to make one thing clear which really is pissing me off…the moron fans who just can’t see clearly……
For all you morons who think by firing Kiffin things will get better, I just don’t know what to say. You guys are idiots…can’t you see it’s not the coach. It’s Davis. Davis is still living in the 70’s and he picks players like he’s still playing in the 70’s. Coach after coach and no results…who do you think the real problem is. Especially, those fans that come out to the games and hold signs that say “Kiffin Must Go”…it should be “Davis Must Go”.
I just can’t believe people think it’s the coach. It’s like if you were building a house but, instead of being supplied wood and nails they give you straws and tape. You got no choice man. When the wind comes in your going to fall apart. And then everyone comes in and says who built this crap, fire the builder. Freakin’ Morons.
We need to see signs about Davis and not Kiffin. All the true Raider fans must realize this and make this be known…unless of course some of you fans are pu$$ies and can not go to a home game and say anything about Davis.

Wait a minute… those really where the droids the empire was looking for. Are you try to pull some sort of Jedi mindtrick on THE Nation?
September 12th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
damn i hope they’re not paying you for this dreck.

Darth, as usual thank you for the positive perspective. For those unfaithful and poser fans — if you don’t like what you’re reading…go elsewhere! For me football sucked this past weekend (UCF lost in OT, UM held their own until the 4th, and the Raiders…well…). So, like you I look to the future. It was one game, buck up and move on! Firing Kiffin is not the answer…and Al Davis…I have to agree that his legacy is turning sour and he needs to take some happy pills and be put out to pasture. But until then, I’ll still wear the silver and black with pride…no matter what! I (always have been and always will be) in!
September 12th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
Darth, you are correct, its only one game vs. the hated raider spy. I’m glad big Al let the rat go. All of the so called “fans” that are calling for the end of the Al Davis era are FOOLS!! Mr. Davis has a vision; pride, poise, and a commitment to excellence. There would not be a NFL if it wasn’t for BIG AL!! Mr. Davis is the Raiders, he is the Silver and Black. The Best players, The Best Coaches, The Best Team. All you “fans” get ready for the big win in KC. I’ll be there. God Bless Al Davis!!

Darth, you couldnt be more wrong or blind. Im off to Vegas, and gonna roll against the Siver and Black. Im gonna cash out on those bums like I have the last 4 years. They will be lucky to win 4 games. They are absoluty the worst team in football. The only thing we learned about the Raiders Monday Night is this: With the first pick in the 2009 NFL draft, the Oakland Raider select…………

Yeh Dru, I get mad duckets. So what r they paying u for the services of Jizz Mopping these days?

And — God willing — 30 more Darth.
