30 Questions to Kickoff: Must-See TV

Well, maybe not TV. But high school football is almost as good as TV, right?

Ben’s question: Before each season starts you can normally look at the schedule and pinpoint the must-see games of the year. They’re pretty easy to find and they don’t usually change as the season goes on. So Mr. Bryson, I ask you: what is the must-see, iron-clad lock of a game to see this season?

Chace’s answer: Actually, the must-see game of 2008 WILL be must-see TV. And I’m sure nobody will be shocked that it includes De La Salle.

The Spartans are no strangers to the spotlight. And on nearly every occasion, they play best when it’s shining on them. The both the West AND East coach will be watching De La Salle on Sept. 27 when it plays host to two-time defending New Jersey state champion, Don Bosco Prep.

The game will be at Owen Owens Field, and on several TV screens across the nation (at least for those who have ESPNU). And it’s on TV for good reason. Assuming both teams take care of business in their first couple of games, they could conceivably both be ranked among the nation’s Top 5 teams in more than one poll by the time they clash.

Both schools started in the nation’s Top 10 in at least two national polls. In ESPN.com’s preseason poll, De La Salle began the year at No. 3 and Don Bosco began at No. 6. The Spartans and Ironmen were Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, in the first poll of the season from Rivals.com.

The bottom line, is that if there is one game to be at this season, it’s this one. And if you can’t make it, make friends with somebody who has EPSNU.
