Now that deadline has passed and I’ve had a chance to collect my thoughts on this game, I thought I’d try to provide some extra thoughts that I didn’t get into my story.
First of all, can anybody imagine what these teams might have done on a dry evening? Goodness gracious.
So I’m sitting in our Antioch office after watching Pittsburg demolish Freedom 42-14. Pitt took control pretty quickly, building a 28-7 lead by halftime. I’ll have more for you on Monday morning.
In the other games of the night, De La Salle held on for a 45-35 win over Monte Vista. I can’t even imagine how nervous those DLS fans must have been. But, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the best teams find ways to win those games.
Campo took down Las Lomas 28-23. I’m told Diante Jackson was hurt in the game and did not play much at all. How bout Clayton Valley? 19-0 winners over College Park. That defense is for real. Encinal waxed St. Patrick-St. Vincent 48-6 and I see nothing stopping the Jets from a 10-0 season.
Alright, gotta go because I’m still on deadline. More thoughts on Monday.
For those planning on attending tonight’s Mt. Diablo-Ygnacio Valley game, you better hurry. The game has been changed from 7 to 4 p.m. at Mt. Diablo. Tomorrow, the El Cerrito-Richmond game has been moved to 1:30 p.m. at El Cerrito. Apparently there is some construction going on at Richmond.
