More good news for fans of Cal athletics. De La Salle point guard Brandon Smith has orally committed to Cal, according to Rivals.com. Having seen Smith play over the past few years, I think his ball-handling skills will be a welcome addition to coach Mike Montgomery’s backcourt. He’ll lead the Spartans again this year and he’ll welcome new addition Hollis Thompson, who is committed to Georgetown.

    Congradulations Brandon,

Having enjoyed watching Brandon play since he was little, Brandon has always worked extremely hard at his game and brings a true “passion” to playing basketball. Cal is extremely lucky to have him commit to their basketball program. Good Luck Brandon San Ramon will be cheering for you.

Too bad he isn’t playing for San Ramon’s Cal High right now. They could sure use him.
