Monday Morning Punter: Week 6
I don’t think anything that happened on Friday night was as exciting as the day the NFL had yesterday, but lets do our best.

More good news for fans of Cal athletics. De La Salle point guard Brandon Smith has orally committed to Cal, according to Rivals.com. Having seen Smith play over the past few years, I think his ball-handling skills will be a welcome addition to coach Mike Montgomery’s backcourt. He’ll lead the Spartans again this year and he’ll welcome new addition Hollis Thompson, who is committed to Georgetown.

This one is across the Bay, so some people might not care a whole lot but for those who’ve seen him, it’s a big deal. Sacred Heart Cathedral-San Francisco RB Dasarte Yarnway has orally committed to Cal, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, Rivals.com, and Scout.com. Pittsburg and Deer Valley fans who have seen him this year can probably back me up on my claim that he’s the best runner I’ve seen so far this season. The Golden Bears got a good one.

Sorry I didn’t post more on Las Lomas receiver Diante Jackson committing to Oregon last night. It certainly turned into a long night very quickly.

You heard it here first folks. Diante Jackson, Las Lomas wide receiver and defensive back extraordinaire, has committed to Oregon to play next season. Just got off the phone with coach Doug Longero and he told me that Diante called Oregon coach Mike Bellotti this morning to let him know the good news. I’m off to do my best to get this in the paper, so I’ll have more later tonight from Diante himself.

No, that’s not a typo. Freedom and College Park put my pen to the test today by scoring touchdown after touchdown. A few thoughts:
