Hand Me Downs: It’s said that those who end up in hell never leave. Such is not the case with Oakland, the best escape route is the Caldecott tunnel. On the other side is another OUSD with some of the best schools and lowest crime in the state. And NO, Rod Sirling and/or Angel Gabriel won’t be there to greet you.

This is a real ‘out of Oakland’ mind and body experience for you and your children! Sell your expensive (value declining) Oakland home and move into humble quarters on “the other side.” For a condo in heaven is better than a mansion in hell. So sayeth the pragmatist.

Or you can rent! I know of several condo vacancies in one complex, with many more in the Moraga area of ‘Lamorinda.’ However, if you rent out your home in hell to pay rent in heaven beware of the Oakland Measure EE Grim Reaper. So help me Obama, It’ll reap what you’ve sown and feed it to your tenants!

thats very scary to know. there doesnt seem to be a safe place around anymore.

the schools should have metal detectors in avoid such things in futute and parents also should keep track of their kids.

absolutely. We had the same thing happen back in 85 at Bret Harte. A kid had a gun in his backpack, dropped it and it fired across the yard hitting a kid named Calvin in the side. I still remember that feeling we all had thinking he might die. With all of the school shootings that have happened in the last 10 years, I cant understand why school districts don’t mandate stricter, smarter security measures. For example: Monitored wireless Security Cameras on the Yard and in the Halls and classrooms, security personnel at the entrances and exits, etc…

It is very distressing to hear that kid brought gun to a class room. Its the responsibility of the school to take proper safety measures. Some include checking, Metal detectors, teach the students the human values.
