The high school hoops championships are here!

Will Mack’s boys basketball program take state again this year? Maybe its girls team will. Or the Castlemont girls, or the Skyline boys.

If you want to come out and support some of Oakland’s student-athletes, Round I of the 2009 CIF State Basketball Championships starts at 7 p.m. tonight, with the McClymonds girls (21-7) at home against Lowell High School (27-4).

At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night at Cal State East Bay, the defending state champs — the McClymonds boys (26-1) — take on the winner of the Franklin High School (Elk Grove) and Lincoln High School (San Francisco) matchup.

Also Tuesday, the Skyline High School boys (18-12) play at Folsom High (30-1), starting at 7 p.m.

The Northern California Championships are Saturday, March 21 at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento. You can find the playoff brackets for the girls here and for the boys here.

Poor Damon, working hard for a loose ball and immortalized sprawling onto the hardwood! That looks like a foul, too.
