Just look at that precious face. What a blessing, if only for 11 years.

I don't know if Alana's family will read this, but Oakland mourns with you. Nothing this senseless should ever, ever happen to our children.

This is a wake up call to all of us. Everyone is in a rush but when you see a bus stop to pick up or let off passengers . . . slow down! Don't just speed around it. Stop completely at stop signs . . . pay attention before you make a right turn and look to see who is crossing. Pedestrians have the right of way.

Alana's family is sick with grief. She deserves to be alive right now.

I also think about the driver of the vehicle. I don't see how they will be able to recover from this . . . how they can sleep at night knowing that they killed a child.

My heart breaks for Alana and her family and friends. I have a little girl about her age who has to cross the street to get to a bus stop. I pray that drivers be more cautious when approaching an intersection. She could have been my little girl. I'm so sorry that Mrs. Williams lost two of her children within two years. Please be strong for the little one that you are carrying. We will keep your little angel and your family in our prayers.

To the family,
Please be strong and keep your heads up you will be prayed for….
My heart goes our to ya’ll…
I can't stand it! I keep hearing or reading stories about hit and runs in Oakland, why can't people ever think about someone other than themselves in times of crisis. I don’t know the situation because I wasn't there, but in my mind I've thought that if the drivers who hit people with their cars would stop and help their victims maybe they might survive. I mean you just hit someone with your car the least you can do is take them to the emergency room or call an ambulance….. something! But these cowards flee the scene every time, I wish people would speak up about things like this but people often abide by that don't snitch policy and that’s a shame. We need to help each other especially if we witness someone wrong someone else! What if that was your little girl or boy laying in the street, or your little brother or sister or niece or nephew or cousin , wouldn’t you want someone to help them, wouldn’t you want justice, would you want retribution….. I pray for the friends and family of that little girl. I work in Oakland and I know what its like to experience the death of a student during the school year, I hope that those close to her receive some sort of counseling to help them to deal with this tragic loss and I encourage the family to pray for the driver / passengers who hit her because if you know like I know, that’s the best thing you can do in a situation like this because "Vengeance is mine," said The Lord.
