Keeping on a Board member in the face of an explicit conflict-of-interest ruling by the District’s own general counsel and an independent law firm looks very, very bad.

I’m sure if you took the 200,00 adults in Oakland and took away all the ones who head organizations with multi-millions in contracts with OUSD … you’d still have a good 199,950 folks to choose from to serve on the board, +/- 25.

Seriously, I don’t care how pure this guy’s soul is, that is a MAJOR conflict of interest.

I do think school board members should get a salary, however, to make it more attractive to those who are not already wealthy.
