My first day was a dream. I LOVE this class! They are sweet and energetic, and I can already feel a sense of community. Last year was a tough year -lots of behavior problems, distracted and unfocused kids, too many students who didn’t care about their work. This year will be different -I can already tell- and I am a refreshed and truly excited teacher. Hooray!

I would like to give major praise to Principal Carol Johnson and the Santa Fe Elementary School staff and volunteers for leading such an organized, positive, and supportive start to the school year! The school looks wonderful, the staff were totally set up to get parents the information they needed quickly, and I loved the morning affirmations used to start the day off on the right foot. Congratulations–I can SEE the hard work!

My husband called this morning. Drop-off at Montera was much worse than the usual first-day chaotic mess. So bad that even going in the “back way” from Scout Dr (where the buses pick-up and drop-off, and the teachers park) wasn’t going to get our eighth grader to school on time. So, the boy hopped out and walked.

I’ll hear how his day went and whether or not he likes this year’s teachers, tonight when I get home from work. I’m hoping for the best!
