Mon, 11 Apr 2011 17:54:01 +0000 http://www.ibabuzz.com/education/?p=12224#comment-36429 I was born and raised in Oakland and attended Highland (K), Howard (1-6), King Jr. High and Skyline (Class of 1977( and I am thankful to have received a great education. It is really sad to witness the struggle we have today to provide this generation a first-class education. My mother grew-up in segregated Oklahoma before moving to CA in 1942 and later graduating from Berkeley HS in 1945. She will tell you that she received a better education in Oklahoma in the midst of Jim Crow than our kids are getting now here in the land of milk and honey. They didn’t have a lot back then, but they had a lot of the right things to include discipline, love and high-expectations.
