Congrats to all the winners at the city and county levels.

Just wanted to chip in about Stephen Davis, one of the OUSD honorees. The guy is, hands down, one of the best teachers I’ve seen. While an OUSD admin, I brought many teachers to observe Mr. Davis. He was always gracious in sharing his practice. After teaching a lesson, he patiently answered teachers’ questions, explained the rationale behind his actions, and identified/shared key resources (He’s a published author for k-3 resources). For many teachers, their visit to Mr. Davis’ classroom was a key point in their development.

His class moves like clockwork. Students thrive in his room; not only is there great learning taking place, but students also take responsibility for themselves and their choices. Because his planning is extraordinary, there is no wasted time.

Mr. Davis’ willingness to open his doors puts him in a special category whereby his impact is nearly impossible to quantify. He's one of the most humble people you’ll meet; OUSD did a great job of identifying him for their award.

Again, congratulations to all the winners. Thank you for your dedication and service.

Congratulations are due to Ms. Warfield! I have know here since she started teaching a Frick year ago, and Yes she is a extraordinary person, who just happens to be a consumate educator. Student's who lives she has touched will never ever forget how she impacted their lives. We thank her for her dedication to our children. An honor very well deserved.

That convenience store where I used to clerk was market driven.

I worked alongside 3rd world immigrants. We had various levels of formal education. We had to wear silly looking uniforms and pay for our own coffee.

If you could sell lottery tickets and smokes you were able to keep your job, possibly get a small raise. The best made supervisor, and put on a track to run their own store.

There was no place for PC, baloney management techniques like "Employee of the Month".

Above-average but competitive (convenience) prices.

That firm I previously mentioned was not market driven. The white collar employees all possessed at least a 4 yr college degree and all wore ties. All the Mr Coffee you could drink.

Raises for new employees almost automatic.
Strict affirmative action program in place.
Good salaries and benefits.

Employee of the month got a reserved parking spot and his picture taken with a PhD level, division president who was highly skilled in politics.

Prices were highway robbery but still (inefficient) industry competitive.

Congratulations Ms. Warfield. I'Asha, you exemplify the best in education.

Through the years, I'Asha continues to hone her craft, learn from peers and treat her students with respect. She brings her best to her students at Frick, and they respond with shining examples of their talents and intellect.

Thank you.
