The beauty of the wind turbine

If you live in the Bay Area, chances are you’ve seen the wind turbines at Altamont Pass. But in case you haven’t, check out this video. Though the camerawork is definitely in the “Shake, Rattle & Roll” school, the beauty of these huge white birds still shines through.

Yes, I have noticed the wind turbines at Altamont, and for many years. I also remember when there were no wind turbines, and the view was much nicer. While it’s nice to extract the energy from the wind, it’s not nice to deface our beautiful envirornment with these things, and it’s not nice to kill birds with them. I would prefer a nice, cheaper, nuclear power plant tucked away where it can’t be seen, producing a constant supply of electricity at a fraction of the cost of windmills. Why the gaurdians of our environment ever allowed those windmills is a mystery to me, and it’s time to get rid of them.
