Rating My Thanksgiving/Thanksgiving in Review

The turkey was excellent, which is good because the games were not.

This is why I suggested making sure to start someone from each game.  Which I meant to do, but somehow managed to list two people from the late game on All-Start and none from Cowboys-Seahawks.  But the question remains: How did I do?

Let’s examine my successes, then cover the fantasy storylines you may have missed due to a food-induced coma.

All-Start Thanksgiving Superstars

Donovan McNabb - 28
Anquan Boldin - 4
LenDale White - 22
Total: 54

McNabb is better than he was in his last two games, all he needed was something to kick him into gear.  Apparently the benching did just that.  And LenDale White was actually the second-highest scoring Titans RB behind Chris Johnson and his 24.  Two out of three ain’t bad, right?

All-Bench Thanksgiving Leftovers

Daunte Culpepper - 8
Julius Jones - 1
Tim Hightower - 3
Total: 12

Culpepper’s eight points were the high point of the Lions’ day.  It’s impressive he got that many considering the epic, legendary scale of Detroit’s ineptitude.  To give you an idea of how bad the Lions are, they make owner William Clay Ford’s auto industry endeavor look like a smashing success.  As for the other two, Seattle and Arizona combined for 105 rushing yards.  Combined team totals.  And only 25 of those came from the Cardinals.  Chris Johnson alone got twice that on a single carry without being touched.

The Cardinals Have Not Clinched Their Division

Get this: The San Francisco 49ers are not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.  Seriously.  Of course it’s unlikely, they have to run the table and the Cardinals have to lose out, but 25 rushing yards against the Eagles say half of that is possible.

Meanwhile if the Cardinals drop every game of the remaining regular season and the Niners lose at least one more the NFC West sends a 7-9 team to the playoffs.  Which seems somehow appropriate.

Two More Cowboys Injured

The Cowboys finally get Tony Romo back and it looks like they might be a Super Bowl powerhouse after all.  Of course now that Felix Jones is on IR that hinges in large part on sole remaining healthy running back Marion Barber, and losing sack leader DeMarcus Ware may be as damaging to their defense as the Chargers losing Shawne Merriman, but what are the odds both those guys get hurt?

Pretty good apparently.  Both those guys got hurt.  But neither is as serious as they initially looked.

Barber left the game with an apparent foot injury.  Turns out it was a dislocated pinkie toe.  I’m not entirely sure how that would even happen, and frankly I don’t want to know, but Jerry Jones doesn’t think it’s very serious.  And who can you trust for a medical opinion if not Jerry Jones?

Ware, meanwhile, left with a painful-looking knee injury that turned out to just be a mild hyperextension.  Lot of pain, not a lot of long-term effects.  He too expects to be ready for the next game.  Let’s just hope for his sake he got a second opinion after his meeting with Dr. Jerry Jones.

Ground Games: A Comparison

I’ve had a lot of fun at the expense of the Seattle and Arizona rushing attacks so far in this post, and I’m not going to stop quite yet.  Let’s take a look at this comparison:

Arizona Rush Yards, Week 13: 25
Seattle Rush Yards, Week 13: 80
ARI/SEA Total Rushing Yards: 105
Tennessee Rush Yards, Week 13: 294

Now let’s look at one more comparison:

Arizona Wins: 7
Seattle Wins: 2
ARI/SEA Total Wins: 9
Tennessee Wins: 11

Coincidence?
