Week 9 Start/Bench

I know, I know, this is late.  Elections are crazy times in the news business so Jeremiah and I have been, to say the least, swamped.  But the good news is that the election is before Week 10 so this should be the last late, abbreviated week.  And not a moment too soon.

Team: Game (Season)
All-Start: 116 (655)
All-Bench: 61 (543)

Start/Bench for Week 8

You should have paid attention in math class.

Last week I incorporated math into the Start/Bench picks and rebounded from a string of bad weeks to a resounding 118-64 win for All-Start, giving them some breathing room and making my degree in economics worthwhile.  All-Start especially was dead on with the average difference between the prediction and reality less than a point.

So what do the numbers say for this week?  First the scoreboard, then the picks.

Team: Game (Season)
All-Start: 118 (539)
All-Bench: 64 (482)

And yes, Matt Schaub is the All-Start QB.

Start/Bench for Week 7

Last week was a heartbreaker for the All-Start Team.  Going into the Monday night game they were up by a significant margin, with the Giants defense left to go and only Braylon Edwards on the All-Bench team.

Then it all went wrong.

Team: Game (Season)
All-Start: 79 (421)
All-Bench: 85 (418)

So this week I’m changing it up.  I’m altering my methods.  And I’m not only going to give you the usual but also predict how many points they’re going to get.

This should be interesting…

Week 6 Start/Bench

Well, the All-Start Team beat the All-Bench Team last week.

Barely.

But I’ve gone over all this in the Rating My Advice post so let’s get right to the good stuff.

Team: Week (Season)
All-Start: 98 (342)
All-Bench: 97 (333)

Week 5 Start/Bench

Last week was not a good week for Start/Bench.

The NFL went all sideways and backwards.  A team from Missouri even won a game.  Everything was all wrong.

So now it’s time to get right back on that horse and make another week of predictions.  And hope the NFL starts making more sense.  And try to build All-Start’s lead for the season back up…

Team: Week (Season)
All-Start: 75 (244)
All-Bench: 111 (236)

Week 4 Start/Bench

Welcome to Part 2 of Late Post Theater, Start/Bench.  Like the Texans and Ravens before me I had to take an unscheduled early bye week (with Jeremiah providing an assist) but I’m back to continue uncovering hidden gems and exposing fantasy frauds.

But first an update on my Week 2 and current overall scores.

Team: Game (Season)
All-Start: 79 (169)
All-Bench: 68 (125)

Week 3 Start/Bench

Filling in for Danny, so here we go….

Starters
QB: Aaron Rodgers has been awesome the first two weeks and facing a Dallas team that just got torched by the Eagles should keep his streak going.
RB: As much as I want to pick Michael Turner, I feel like he’s too easy. So, I’m going with Reggie Bush and my new crush Chris Johnson. Bush is playing against the same defense that Darren Sproles tore apart and Bush is pretty much a supped up version of Sproles. Johnson is playing the Texans, who were forced to take last week off. Even if they’re fired up for their first game back, Johnson could really exploit their suspect defense.

Week 2 Start/Bench

Most fantasy analysts don’t follow up with their predictions.

I am not most analysts.

All season I’ll keep a running score of my All-Start Team and my All-Bench Team to see who’s winning.  How did I do?

Team: Game (Season)
All-Start: 90 (90)
All-Bench: 57 (57)

My All-Start team included Michael Turner.  My All-Bench team’s wide receiver corps (Torry Holt, Laveranues Coles, Ted Ginn) scored a total of one point.

So what do my apparent psychic powers tell me this week?

Week 1 Start/Bench

This…is Start/Bench.  Every week I’ll have an All-Start Team, a group of guys who I think will have a standout week, and an All-Bench Team, a group I think will perform under their average.

Keep in mind a spot on the All-Start Team doesn’t mean you should start a guy over a proven player.  The All-Start Team are guys who can fill in for you for a week if your starter is injured or suspended.

Likewise, don’t automatically bench a guy on the All-Bench Team unless you have a viable option to replace him with.  Those guys will still score points, just not as much as they usually do.  Only use it to make a decision between two otherwise equal players.
