This past Saturday night, the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco was the venue Citizens for the World benefit fashion show called BARE, which included special guests, 2006 Miss San Francisco, Carol Chen and Survivor winner Yul Kwon.

So what exactly is this BARE campaign? Well, it was created by the non-profit group, Citizens of the World, and it is an artistic demonstration where the models decorated jeans and wore them on the runway as an artistic protest to Asian poverty.

Normally, I am not one to graffiti $200 high-end jeans like Kasil and Loomstate, but because of the socially-minded message conveyed by the event, I would definitely reconsider.

The models decorated their own jeans with statements that went in line with the mission of Citizens for the World - to eradicate poverty and mobilize people to do be proactive in fighting the cause.

Each model stomped down the runway in the jeans they designed as music worthy of booty-shakin’ blasted through the speakers.

The jeans presented on the show were up for grabs in a silent auction, with all proceeds going to Citizens for the World.

And before you get all hot and bothered about all the skin, just keep in mind - they’re making a statement. The absence of clothing “embraces the essence of having nothing.”

That said, it’s okay to look good while supporting a good cause.

Nonetheless…here are the money shots:

    Dino-Ray,

Thank you for covering this event! It was Citizens for the World’s first campaign, and it was a success! The venue was donated by The Element, LLC, and visual effected were done by HX Design Studios. Promoting awareness is key to any social movements, so thank you so much for your blog and coverage.
