Back to the basics: After toying with modern looks and taking the world by storm one popped collar at a time, the French brand of tennis and golfing garb headed by Christophe Lemaire celebrates its 75th year with somewhat of a clean slate - hence the brighty white runway.

So what’s the story here? Based on a game called “pelote Basque,” which was played at a family golf course named Chantaco, a club started by the father of Simone Thion de la Chaume (a golfing champion herself) in 1928. She then became the beloved wife of Rene Lacoste in 1930. The “pelote Basque” court is the setting for models as they add life to this story of origin.

Par le vous Francais? I was grumpy because this was one of my first shows of the morning and I hadn’t eaten breakfast. At this point, jet lag had no meaning in my life anymore. I just had no concept of time whatsoever. I just followed the herds of fashionistas and went to whatever show I ended up in - but I digress. Nearly everyone that passed me seemed to be speaking French - I felt very fancy.

Par le vous Ralph Lauren? While nearly 50 percent of the audience was wearing their Lacoste shirts, I was wearing my gingham blue Ralph Lauren button up. Do you think that was a bad idea?

The color wheel: It was all about the bold and simple: reds, blues, yellows and other uncomplicated shades that were straight out of a Crayola box. They were presented well against a very white backdrop. Eventually, paler tones of purple and green were presented. There was also a brief transition into stripes and plaids that gave a little jolt of energy to the basic collection.

You can’t go wrong with the classics: Each look presented for both men and women represented a classic Lacoste voice with the occasional contemporary dash. Strapless baby dolls and wide legs for women were very ready to wear, while men donned the trademark alligator polos in cropped pants. The bathing suits were lovely - especially the ones utilizing adorable polka dots.

Enough with the braiding: I believe I saw a braided belt somewhere in the collection. Gross. There was also one look that included a pale green suit which reminded me Crockett and Tubbs from “Miami Vice.”

Conclusion? Game. Set. Match. Very ready to wear.
