Yes, you heard that right. I am a part of a jury.

Last week, I got to judge nearly 100 items for St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco’s Discarded to Divine event hosted by the Academy of Art University.
The event challenges Bay Area designers to construct garments out of second-hand clothing. Thousands of entries are received, and then they are judged by an esteemed jury (which included me). From there, they present the highest rated pieces at a fashion show on April 26 in San Francisco.
While walking through the valley of garments gorgeously adorning still dress forms, I was utterly impressed. There were pants that were made into dresses, jeans made into shirts, blazers made into couture-worthy gowns - it was an overwhelming flood of creativity. I felt like Michael Kors judging garments on Project Runway.
But I don’t want to give too much away. You’ll just have to wait until the runway show!
