Flip floppin’ in the city…

I was in San Francisco all day chatting it up with tattoo artists (for a story I am working on), doing relentless people watching and then ended the evening with a trip to Narnia. No, for real, I went to Narnia. Well, I saw a screening of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

Anyways, as the weather gets warmer I have noticed more people walking in the city wearing flip-flops (more than usual). I can’t bring myself to wear flip flops (or tsinelas for all my Filipino brethren) in the city. I just can’t. It’s not necessarily a pet peeve, because I don’t have problems with people wearing flip flops. For me, there’s something really gross about having that much of my feet exposed within an urban jungle setting. There’s like one inch of material separating the soles of your feet with the concrete that has been stomped on (and God knows what else) millions of times.

Would you consider this an irrational fear?

Nonetheless, if you like flip flops, go for the trendy brand du jour…
