I was going to title this post, N.K.OH NO THEY DIDN’T!, but I think repeating my play on the popular saying would be lame.
Anyways, the long-awaited performance of The New Kids on the Block finally came to us via the Today Show…and…well…just watch for yourselves…
Ummm…they look neat in their matching-but-not-really outfits. I really was excited about their reunion, but based on this performance in the rain, they are a little rusty. Their 15-year hiatus is very apparent - especially with John. Jordan needs to bust out his ultrasonic falsetto and Joey needs to wear that porkpie hat with the hole in the top. Okay…not really. But they do need a little more work to liven things up. They were trying to hard here. It was like an episode of Making the Band (the one with O-town).
Joey seemed the most excited. Donnie was trying to revive that inner-bad boy in himself. I can’t stop thinking about Jordan in the Surreal Life. John was awkward. Danny…well, he was Danny. They looked like they had to be there rather than wanting to be there.
I do have faith that once this tour gets underway, they will get their mojo back. They just need a jumpstart - and they need to stop acting like they are 18. We do miss the nostalgia of the days of N.K.O.T.B. yore, but they just need to modernize it just a little bit.
But what do I know? Those soccer moms in the front row were screaming their heads off.

they should have stayed with just singing instead of doing those awkward teenage dance moves. they do look fab though.
