Every time I go back to my parents house in Texas, I like to go through all of my old stuff that is stowed away in the musky corner of their garage. I love going through old pictures, scrapbooks, random torture devices and some weird things that I never knew I had.
Last month when I went I hit the jackpot! I found a bunch of old VHS tapes. For some odd reason I was excited. Everything that helped me get through college was there: “West Side Story,” “Sound of Music,” “Forest Gump,” “The Goonies,” the “Scream” trilogy and then I saw this…
This had to be the most monumental teen movie of the time! I loved it SO much! (Actually, I think my friend Tara and I are the only ones in the world who adored it so much) Plus, the movie is FULL of stars who were up-and-coming back in the day: Donald Faison Freddy Rodríguez, Jaime Pressly, Clea DuVall, Selma Blair, Breckin Meyer, Ethan Embry, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sean Patrick Thomas, Lauren Ambrose, Peter Facinelli and others!
Ever since I found the tape, it has been on repeat on my VCR (yes, I still have a VCR). I think I loved this movie so much because it was around the same time I graduated high school and it struck a nice chord with me…
You can get the movie on DVD (at Amazon.com for $10.49), but I refuse buy it. I think the VHS quality brings me back to simpler times and makes me feel all nostalgic and stuff. That made me sound so smart.
Seeing that it is Gay Pride Month and all, it’s nice to hear heartwarming coming out stories - especially when they involve “Project Runway” alum Nick Verreos and his strategic use of Hermes, Versace at an unintentional Uno’s Pizza coming out party:
My question is this: How did he afford Hermes and Versace as a college student? I know all I could afford while I was at school were Jnco jeans and items on the super-duper clearance rack at Gap.
Ever since the movie “Gladiator” came out, women have been donning strap-happy gladiator style sandals as if they were ready to go into a last-woman standing chariot battle complete with tigers, maces, bows, arrows and Gucci handbags.
The gladiator sandal epidemic has become widespread, but when is a sandal too strappy? By that, I am referring to those sandals that creep up the leg and end at the knee.
Is this an endangered trend? Or is it one that we can expect to see a couple more seasons?
I don’t even need to talk about the beauty of these pictures - they are just SO magical…but I’ll say a couple of words anyway.
John Galliano certainly has outdone himself with these gorgeously classic gowns for Dior’s Haute Couture F/W 2008/2009.
All these dresses are like something that Miss Scarlett O’ Hara would wear - except the dresses are on steroids.

There is too much drama for yo’ mama with these dresses - and I mean that in the best way.

I haven’t been blogging about the shows in Paris because - well - it’s too painful. Why is it painful? Because I’m not there.
Anyways, while looking through some photos of the men’s collections, I stumbled upon Lucas Ossendrijver for Lanvinand I was intrigued. According to NYMag.com’s profile of the label, they are known to be “Featherweight sophistication for the modern bourgeoisie.”
Featherweight? Check. Sophisticated? Check. Modern bourgeoisie? Check. With three check marks, Ossendrijver (how the hell do you pronounce that?) delivers.
There’s something quirky about this collection that peeks out via it’s straw hats and slouchy-slim silhouettes. If there were a defining boho-chic look for men, this would be it. It’s masculine, but at the same time, there’s this softness to it with its light fabrics and flowy shapes - and he does something very interesting with some of the pieces - he defines the waistline of men with cinched midsections.

Who knew that the ditz who could predict weather with her breasts on “Mean Girls” would be such a lauded actress? Yes - I’m talking about Amanda Seyfried, who owned the red carpet in this flirty strapless green dress with meandering seamlines at the world premiere of “Mamma Mia!” in London.

I will not wear this with a mouse
