Last night, I went to the grand opening party of the John Varvatos store in San Francisco - and aside from following the guy with the tray of bite-sized Gorgonzola mac n’ cheese (those were so good), I noticed that the party was rockin’ - literally.
Patrons booze it up amidst the rock-chic garb and decor of JV
Part rock n’ roll museum and part luxe boutique, the JV store is a place I can get comfortable in…
The epitome of JV style speaks for itself. It’s this melding of rock and roll, modern style, casual flair and
dandy essence that cannot be duplicated. The decor of authentic pictures of rockers like Jim Morrison, Queen, Alice Cooper and Debbie Harry (just to name a few) compliments the garments for a unpretentious feel. It’s fashion for the no-fuss modern man that wants to look good in a suit or in a t-shirt and jeans.

I was really diggin’ this button up boots. I don’t normally like the whole “dirtied-and-lived-in” look, but JV has a knack for making me like it…

I foresee these boots on my shoe rack. Very soon. Very, very soon.
And like I said, the urban old-world decor of this place makes you feel so - cool. In addition to it’s 1,500 vintage light bulbs dangling from the ceiling of the entrance, the store has this 1960’s Parisian fireplace that is the curious pièce de résistance when it comes to all the artwork in the two-story building.

Then I departed to the back entrance of the store (a.k.a. SF’s swanky Maiden Lane) and a tent was set up for more of the evening’s festivities - which, by the way, benefited SF’s charity The Guardsmen
The man of the hour, John Varvatos was there to greet the crowd alongside Guardsmen rep Kit Codik. They even auctioned off a couple of iconic pictures of rockstars from the store and a guitar to up the fundraising ante.

JV welcomes the crowd and auctions off a couple of legendary rockstar photos
The evening ended with a performance by the Los Lonely Boys (native Texans, like myself and donned in JV garb) and they rocked it out! (how many times can I use the word “rock” in this post?) I’ve seen them perform when I was intertwined with the live music scene of Austin - and I enjoy them…

The John Varvatos store is located at 152 Geary Street in San Francisco. Call 415-986-0138. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday; noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Great article. I filmed some of the event last night for the Guardsmen and JV publicity, and the LLB concert portion for LLB & promotions dept., and would be happy to send you a dvd of the show in the near future. Just send an email with a mailing address.
We’re part of the Onda by the Bay Street Team, and it’s all done at no cost to the fans - only requesting that the dvds not be sold or placed on ebay.
Best,
Rob Lind
P.S. I have a YouTube video of the new song I filmed
on 5/24 in Austin at the Saxon Pub, site name: RobLLind, titled LLBStayingWithMe and LLBCrazyBaby.

Enjoyed reading about the grand opening and the whole grand affair. I’m a fan of Los Lonely Boys - great that JV is a music fan and had them rock out the grand opening.
Nice op for LLB to make new fans. Good to see members of LLB’s Street Team (La Onda) make it out too. Would like to see more of your pictures when your site comes back up. Muchos Gracias!
