Who are these ladies screaming and awing over?

Well, the answer is simple…

Sure, the sun may be glaring off his face that is worth a million dollars, but it’s David Beckham.

The dapper Englishman-turned-American resident, made his appearance in SF’s Union Square to unveil his new Emporio Armani underwear ad for Macy’s and despite the warm weather, people started flocking to the square like…like…people coming to see an internationally renowned celeb.

I swear, you’d think this guy is a rockstar - but in a way he is. He just doesn’t play a musical instrument. His fame is three-fold: he’s a soccer star (it’s exotically known as “football” in other places). He’s married to Victoria Beckham - which means he’s constant gossip fodder. And, he’s not that bad looking - which makes him a default model for Armani.

Before he gave out his autograph to some lucky folks (they spent about $200 on Armani products to do so - they deserve it), he greeted the crowd. Well, he’s not a man of many words, but he did say this was his first time in SF and that the weather was beautiful. He also thanked the crowd for being there…and that’s about it…

After a few words, he was more than happy to meet his fans:

I was talking to Danielle, a photographer from PopSugar and she said that she saw David with Victoria and their three sons Cruz, Romeo and Brooklyn eating at One Market in SF this afternoon! I should’ve of been there stalkerazzing them.

Anyways, here’s what all of you have been waiting for…

There he is…in all his glory at the Geary Street entrance of Macy’s. Half-naked for all of San Francisco to see. I wonder what he is thinking in that picture…

And as a BONUS, I actually got to chat with David very briefly backstage…VERY briefly. But he was a cool bloke! (you notice how I am using English slang?)

He was looking refined in a tailored suit (I hope it was Armani, I failed to ask) and his ruggedly handsome five o’ clock shadow. And he greeted me with all the grace of a perfect gentleman…here’s what he said…

Why do you think guys will like about Emporio Armani underwear? What do you like about it?

I love it because it’s comfortable. It’s masculine, but it has that feminine side that’s really attractive. I love wearing it and obviously I like being photographed in it (laughs). But I think it’s great. People are going to love it.

What does your family think about the ads? Has your mother and your wife taken to it nicely?

My mum was slightly surprised when she saw the first pictures – but that’s my mum being a mum. That’s natural – but she’s come to terms with them. And Victoria loves them.

I liked how he said MUM a lot. I really want a English accent now.

And…if you want to see a poorly shot video of the unveiling of the ad (sorry, it’s sideways- I didn’t realize)…check this out.

It’s like the tarp was falling down slowly on purpose. Like a gigantic striptease.

The new Emporio Armani ad campaign will be featured on www.emporioarmani.com starting June 23. The new collection will be available at Macy’s in August.

David and Victoria, I love your advertisement photo, your family is just as good looking as your picture . It`s great you are living in the U.S. and it`s even greater to see a fabulous looking family as there seems to be fewer and fewer (among the common anyway) I wish we could see and hear more of Victoria as many of us think her sence of humor is fun and entertaining. Wishing all of you good health, happiness and most of all a united family.
