On the way to work this morning I saw one guy talking on his cell phone while driving. I pulled him over and made a citizen’s arrest for not using a headset with his cellular phone - or as they say in more exotic locales: mobile phone (pronounced MOE-BILE).
Yes ladies and gentlemen, from here on out you cannot drive and talk without a headset in the state of California - but you still can text, eat a hamburger, read, fiddle with your iPod, pick your nose and even beat on your steering wheel as if it were a snare drum - but you CANNOT have a phone in your hands whilst performing the act of driving.
Here’s a solution for those of you who do not have a headset: FreeHeadset.org. Like the website’s name entails, you get a free headset! Well, it’s not completely free because you have to pay a small shipping and handling fee - but still - the site has almost every type of headset for most phones.
Now you don’t have an excuse - go out and get one!!!

In case you’re wondering, the dress that Lucy Liu is wearing in this post is by Giambattista Valli. The shoes are by Courtney Crawford and the clutch by Roger Vivier.
Now that we know, we can all sleep a little bit more soundly tonight.

Entermodal Flip Wallet, $250 at JunoAndJove.com
Okay, normally I don’t spend a boatload of money on a wallet. I usually have some ghetto velcro thing that I got free with five proofs of purchase from Raisin Bran. But when I saw this wallet at Odin (more on that in the next post) in New York, I was mesmerized.
The line of leather accessories by Entermodal is like sci-fi leather origami! I was so captivated by it that I just bought one. It’s slim, sleek and it’s a conversation piece. It’s not like any wallet I have seen before. It comes in so many styles and it has this modern minimalist style that I could not resist.
The best thing about it is that it’s handmade (with a personalized authenticity card by the maker)! It’s finely stitched and the leather smells so good! Ummm…did that sound creepy?
I was debating on whether or not to buy it but then my friend Erline, aggressively said “Just buy it already! Who cares about rent!”
I am a sucker for peer pressure.

Raheem DeVaughn arrives at the 21st annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Monday, June 23, 2008. (AP Photo/Matt Sayles)
For real. This boombox has to be the best red carpet accessory I have ever seen. Sure, Mr. Raheem DeVaughn is rockin’ a leather tux jacket with jeans and the in-vogue thick-framed glasses, but man - that boom box is going to be the it red carpet accessory of all time.

Tis the season to go auctioning - because it seems like Christie’s Auction House is auctioning seven pieces of the late legendary French fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent.
That said, if you have a couple of thousand dollar bills burning a hole in your pocket, here are some items you can snag:

Sure, women may have all the fun when it comes to shoes, but that doesn’t mean that the modern male has a quiet obsession with their loafers and Chelsea boots - especially me.
That said, I am an advocate of meticulous shoe care. I insist that you have some quality shoe trees to maintain the shape of your loafers - not to mention keep odor away (I’ve mentioned this before.)
Alfani Shoe Tree, $19.98 at Macy’s
Also, keep one of those all-in-one shoe care kits handy. It has everything you need to keep the sleek “I love my shoes” sheen on your lace ups and boots.
Deluxe Shoe Shine 10-pc. Kit, $19.99 at Target

That said, take a look at some of the pieces from H&M’s autumn/winter 2008 collection:

I’m diggin’ those humungozoid wide legs on her and all that purple on him is grape-a-licious.
The new H&M store at the Stoneridge Shopping Center is located at 1004 Stoneridge Mall Road, Pleasanton. Call 925-225-0590.

I have a pair of Vogue glasses. It’s a very weak prescription. In fact, I think I just bought a pair of glasses because I really liked the frames.
But for those who really need glasses and want to have the most stylish pair you can find - I would suggest going to EyeBuyDirect.com.
Not only do they have some of the swankiest frames like Gucci and DKNY, but it serves as one-stop online shop for all your prescription glasses needs. You just need to pick your frames, fill in your prescription and viola! You got yourself a new pair of fancy glasses to wrap around your head.
And did I mention the prices are ridiculously reasonable?
BUT! The best part of the site is the “virtual dressing room.” You can upload a picture of yourself, pick a frame and see how you look in them. You can even send them to your friends so that they can ask for their opinions on your new specs - that can be kind of dangerous if you have really critical self-esteem bashing friends like me.
I tested out the “virtual dressing room” and this is what I tried on…

Okay - word to the wise. Make sure your picture is scaled properly so that you don’t look like Sally Jesse Raphael. Also, don’t use a pic where you are shamelessly eating at Red Lobster.

Not everyone can look as cool as David Beckham when wearing a Bluetooth. That is why you shouldn’t wear one on your ear 24/7 unless you are going for that “beam-me-up” look.
I can understand wearing a Bluetooth in the office, while you are “on the job” (that’s what she said) and while driving, but other than that, they are just an eyesore - especially when you are doing something like enjoying a day in the park. It doesn’t make you look important. It makes you look like a corporate monkey.
That said, think of a Bluetooth as a “work-only” device. When you are on the clock, surgically implant that thing into your ear. When you are off the clock, take it out. No one needs to see that thing in your ear when you are browsing the cereal aisle at Safeway - just opt for a low-tech earpiece until the peeps at Bluetooth come out with a more discreet, stylish earpiece that looks less Starship Enterprise and more Tiffany.
