Maggie Gyllenhaal is looking vibrantly stylish in this Asian-like see-through Jean Paul Gaultier number at the premiere of the The Dark Knight in Japan!
That is hot.
And P.S. - if you’re wondering where I’ve been, I’ve been spreading my joy all over the net! Click here and here to continue reading about Dino-Ray’s fashion and pop culture adventures!
Yes, you heard that right. The one and only Sarah Jessica Parker paid a visit to the humble Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton to meet and greet her fans (and sign bottles of her fragrances) at Macy’s and to promote her fragrances, Lovely, Covet and Covet Pure Bloom
Donned in a beautiful Peter Soronen dress (the perfect silhouette on her), ferocious sequin dipped Miu Miu heels (she had to check and make sure they were Miu Miu) and a gorgeous Fred Leighton necklace, I had a brief interview the “Lovely” SJP.
We talked about everything from the vast difference of weather between the East Bay and SF and she even complimented my suit! When I told her I lived in the area she said, “Lucky You!” and she loved the cozy rural charm of the Tri-Valley Area…
Nonetheless, here’s what she had to say:
How do you go about creating your fragrances?
Well they have three different stories that are particular to each fragrance. Lovely, I had very specific idea in my mind based on this 20 year “vulgar” version of a chemist that I was. When I finally found Catherine and Cody, it was a matter of interpreting what I wanted, having real professionals and perfumers come into the conversation to teach me about the fragrance business. That, in a way, was the simplest process. Catherine told me early on in the journey of Lovely that I was much further along than I thought because most people come with all the options in the world available to them. With Covet, it was a very different animal because there was nothing specific I was thinking except that I wanted to have some connective tissue to Lovely. I wanted to create a fragrance that had drama and had more subversive qualities. With Pure Bloom, it had specificity from a flower – which was unusual for me. It was about capturing the idea of pikake and the experience I had with the flower when I was in Hawaii and when I was a young girl. They’ve all been different. As a result, I’ve learned so much about fragrance and getting to the final destination.
Well, apparently, she just showed new collections in Barcelona for her labels Sweetface and JLO by Jennifer Lopez via various vignettes of “hip” street scenes and voyeuristic boudoir-esque red light district swankiness…
Brad Pitt arrives at the Lenval Hospital in Nice, southern France, carrying his children Zahara, right, and Shiloh, Wednesday, July 2, 2008. U.S. actress Angelina Jolie checked into the Lenval Hospital in the south of France on last Tuesday, where she is expected to give birth to her twins, a hospital spokeswoman said last Tuesday. For the love of God let Angie bring forth life into this world in peace!!! I’m sure her birth will be just as beautiful as that “Miracle of Life” video we all watch when we are in the 4th grade. You know, it’s that video we were forced to watch during gym or health class when the boys and girls were split up to learn about our changing bodies.
Actors Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith arrive at the “Hancock” premiere Monday June 30, 2008, in Los Angeles. (AP Photo/ Matt Sayles)
If anyone can make a plaid suit work it would be Will Smith. Normally, a print like this would be overwhelming, but for some reason the Fresh Prince’s swagger and charming smile at the “Hancock” premiere makes it appealing. So appealing that I want one of my own.

As for Jada Pinkett Smith, her slinky green number is gorgeous, but it is her bedroom eyes that hypnotize me…

Wow. I am in a trance. I can’t take my eyes off of her…I am drawn to her…and for some reason, I…must…watch…Hancock.
Every time I go back to my parents house in Texas, I like to go through all of my old stuff that is stowed away in the musky corner of their garage. I love going through old pictures, scrapbooks, random torture devices and some weird things that I never knew I had.
Last month when I went I hit the jackpot! I found a bunch of old VHS tapes. For some odd reason I was excited. Everything that helped me get through college was there: “West Side Story,” “Sound of Music,” “Forest Gump,” “The Goonies,” the “Scream” trilogy and then I saw this…
This had to be the most monumental teen movie of the time! I loved it SO much! (Actually, I think my friend Tara and I are the only ones in the world who adored it so much) Plus, the movie is FULL of stars who were up-and-coming back in the day: Donald Faison Freddy Rodríguez, Jaime Pressly, Clea DuVall, Selma Blair, Breckin Meyer, Ethan Embry, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sean Patrick Thomas, Lauren Ambrose, Peter Facinelli and others!
Ever since I found the tape, it has been on repeat on my VCR (yes, I still have a VCR). I think I loved this movie so much because it was around the same time I graduated high school and it struck a nice chord with me…
You can get the movie on DVD (at Amazon.com for $10.49), but I refuse buy it. I think the VHS quality brings me back to simpler times and makes me feel all nostalgic and stuff. That made me sound so smart.
Amanda Seyfried arrives for the world premiere of ‘Mamma Mia’, in central London, Monday June 30, 2008. (AP Photo/Lefteris Pitarakis)
Who knew that the ditz who could predict weather with her breasts on “Mean Girls” would be such a lauded actress? Yes - I’m talking about Amanda Seyfried, who owned the red carpet in this flirty strapless green dress with meandering seamlines at the world premiere of “Mamma Mia!” in London.
Last night at the premiere of David Arquette’s new absinthe-era short film, “The Butler’s in Love,” I stormed the “green carpet” (the hue of the strong herbal liquor) and was snapping photos of celebs and attacking them with my brilliant questions…okay, not really brilliant, but I did charm Mayor Gavin Newsom and his fiance Jennifer Siebel, the first couple down the green carpet (if you don’t count the random people entering the theater beforehand.
When Mr. Mayor found out I was a fashion writer he immediately joked and said, “Well, I’m wearing Versace.” He wasn’t wearing Versace, but I was mesmerized by his coif. His hair is always finely groomed into this sculptured masterpiece. I didn’t ask what kind of product he used, but he did talk about how San Francisco isn’t being used as a hot-spot locale for movies.
“If you look back on the history of filmmaking in San Francisco, it’s extraordinary,” says Newsom. “It’s a who’s who of world class talent that has come through our city. Some of the biggest and most successful movies in the history of American cinema have come through San Francisco.”
Siebel, who stars in the short (did I mention it was 3-D? Well, I did in this post) as the early 1900’s absinthe-sipping love interest of a butler (hence the title) wore a no-fuss Pucci dress and also thought that SF should be a hot spot for movies.
“I fly down to Los Angeles for work and I would love not to have to get on a plane every week,” says Siebel. “Obviously, I don’t like leaving (Newsom). This is such a creative city and I would love to embrace all the creativity.”
When David Arquette and Courtney Cox-Arquette arrived (Coco was at a sleepover in case you’re wondering), cameras went crazy, but I was admiring Courtney’s head-to-toe black outfit…
