I’m really diggin’ Ashley Olsen’ trend du jour of modernized masculine tailoring a la “Annie Hall” and “Victor Victoria.”

Wow! Doesn’t Ashley Olsen look very refreshing and refined on the pink carpet? She looks so good! She doesn’t look as crackish as she normally does. Or is that her sister? Well, either way, she gets a “You got it dude!” approval from me.

Yeah, I’m late with my red carpet review of this year’s Golden Globes, but I was recovering from my excitement over Ugly Betty winning for best comedy and best actress (America Ferrera). AND I was just as excited for Jennifer Hudson winning for Dreamgirls.
Nonetheless…
Salma Hayek busted out (pun intended) in this draping goody paired with a relaxed hairdo.
Grey’s Anatomy star Katharine Heigl looked absolutely stunning in this gown with a dramatic train. Even so, I wonder how she managed to control that monstrous excess of fabric.
I have this red carpet obsession with J. Lo in where I can’t make fun of what she wears. She can wear a pair of Osh Kosh overalls and still look sexy. This Greek-ish one shouldered wonder makes her look like an Amazon Latina Queen.
Oh my, Beyonce - I know yellow gold is in, but that doesn’t mean we have to dress up like a golden mirror ball. Okay - maybe the dress isn’t THAT bad, but the photo is certainly suggestive…ahem.
Wearing a dress like this still won’t make the tabloids forget that you broke up with Justin nor does it exempt you from the movie, Charlie’s Angels 2: Full Throttle. It looks like a swan vomited on her body - but I do like Cameron Diaz as a brunette.
How adorable is Reese Witherspoon? She looks like a canary sprite in this simple strapless dress. The red heels have the potential to make this a ketchup and mustard get-up, but she works the look glamorously. Eat your heart out Ryan.
And the winner for best couple of the Golden Globes is…Will and Jada! What a beautiful pair - he in a basic black suit and her in this perfectly cut coral gown with layered detailing that even makes me want a body like hers.
And the winner for scariest couple of the Golden Globes is…Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Dear lord - it either looks like they were playing dress up in their grandmother’s attic or they just got off of work from Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion ride. And please, please, please - get some more sun ladies. Either that or lay off the white powder - both kinds. And do you notice how this wasn’t on the actual red carpet? This was at one of the after parties - because everyone knows that no one goes to the award ceremony - they only go to the parties!
The dress that that Rinko Kikuchi would be fine if it weren’t for all those jellyfish clung to the hem.
I absolutely LOVED, LOVED what Emily Blunt wore on the carpet. It’s simple, but not boring and proportioned nicely: formfitting on top and flowy on the bottom - fabulous! And it doesn’t hur that she was one of my favorite character in The Devil Wears Prada.

It seemed like Josh Holloway, Kiefer Sutherland, Jamie Foxx, Milo Ventimiglia and all the other men stuck with black and white. It’s not necessarily boring, but it is always a safe bet. B & W is very stylish but when you wear color among a monochromatic backdrop, then you tend to stand out. That’s why I applaud Michael Urie from Ugly Betty for splashing some color on to the men’s side of the red carpet. It’s not a lot, but it was a nice little tangent from all the other guys.
