BEST DRESSED of 2007: The red carpet look of the year!
No, I’m not talking about a gown, a pant suit or an outlandish garment that ruled the red carpet. It was a distinct “take my photo” stance that the celebrities took that was the biggest trend on the crimson strip. Last year it was that “over-the-shoulder-look-at-my-back” look that ruled the red carpet, this year it was the ubiquitous “cross-my-legs-confidence” mannerism that was popular for A-listers.
This look was a very inventive way to stand on the red carpet. It was unique, interesting, captivating, confident and, supposedly, the crossing of the legs is supposed to flatter a woman’s figure.
By standing and crossing the legs, it projects an hour glass look. I don’t know exactly how, but it works. Need a dash of sass? Put your hands on your hips to invoke that “I rule the red carpet” flair.
Here are some ladies that best illustrated this red carpet trend:

Mandy Moore’s dress may have been ill-fitting at the MTV Movie Awards, but at least she got the crossed legged look to make up for it. AP Photo/Matt Sayles

“Hairspray” star Brittany Snow brings some of that cross-legged action to the new Guess? store in San Francisco. Photo by…ME!

Shortly after her breakup with Ryan Phillipe, Reese Witherspoon began to set the red carpet ablaze wherever she went - especially when she crossed her legs!
