We live next to a small golf course and can hear the frogs at the water hazard aka the pond. We find them delightful, especially when they really crank it up in the spring. We also have a few in our backyard who are attracted to the fountain. I use a pond algae cleaner that supposedly doesn't harm animals but sometimes I use a very small amount of the chlorine I use in the hot tub when the algae really gets out of hand. Because of the winter rains, it can be difficult to drain and scrub the fountain which I do in the warmer months. I don't want to leave it drained during the winter because the birds really love it. The few frogs don't seem to be harmed so far but I'm afraid the spa has become a worse hazard for them. Despite the cover, I had to scoop a little cooked fellow out the other day. I felt badly. They are so tiny and so amazing. I enjoy the spa for my achy body but I wish the little guys would stay out. Any ideas on keeping them away?
