What do you say when the Associated Press reports that a 19-year-old woman in Oakland was arrested for killing a 6-week-old Labrador retriever puppy on Sunday by kicking it and slamming it on a sidewalk?
According to AP, prosecutors charged the woman with felony animal abuse, "because of the malicious and intentional nature of the killing."
That is a very angry person. It’s unfortunate that a little puppy had to pay the ultimate price for her anger.

whats the punishment for a crime like this, im sure its not going to be harsh enough. if she is capable of treatign an animal like that i hate to think of how she would treat a child. its a sick sad world

I can’t imagine how someone could do that to an innocent creature. What I’d like to see happen to them, I can’t put here; what will most likely happen won’t be harsh enough. Our judicial sysyem has some flaws, not the least is how it deals with animal cruelty. I agree with Mike, it IS a sick, sad world.

What she did was unjustifiable, but young people in many parts of Oakland aren’t being treated a whole lot better. Ride BART once and a while and listen in when a group of black young people get on. In loud, boisterous young voices, they have the conversations of old people. It’s about all of their friends who have died lately. Maybe we’ll get more respect for animals when we show more respect for them as people.

KRF you have a solid point about respect and the plight around us but i think in this situation its more than all that. a dog man thats your baby, your homie, your best friend, there for you through thick n thin. hes there to protect you, give you a shoulder to cry on and make you never feel alone. that grrl had serious issues beond simple respect for life.

Pet abuse has become a serious problem. If you go to the Petition Site, you will see horrible stories of abuse.
I stared a petition for a Greyhound mix named Otis who was physically and sexually abused by a man in Arizona. This guy was finally arrest after he didn’t appear at a court hearing. The last time he was in court, the judge found him mentally competent to stand trial. He came to court with a broken jaw and broken ribs. Abuse a dog and if the jail inmates hear about it, you get what you deserve! Otis had to be put down because of the horrible abuse he indured for God knows how long!

Do any of you realize that Vivi, the Whippet who escaped from JFK Airport on 2/15/2006 is still being looked for? Today, trackers and their dogs are on a last effort search for this sweet dog! Because she lived in Southern Ca and was allowed to hunt, she has survied in New York for almost 9 months! Many people on TEAMS have put food and water out for Vivi. She has been seen many time, but not for the past two months. There is talk that she has been taken and is liviing with someone, but no proof. If you are in the NY area, help is needed in locating her. Because of the deidicated people, searching for Vivi, many other lost animals have been found and returned to their people! VIVA LA VIVI!

Wouldn’t I love to see her beaten and splattered all over a sidewalk!
