Before I could decide on whether or not Romney mistreated his dog, I’d have to know what kind of carrier the dog was in.
If it was an airtight box, which could get pretty hot, and maybe hotter than the air-conditioned car, that would be pretty cruel.
But if it was a container that shielded him from the direct sun, but with enough holes in it so that breezes caused by the fast moving car would cool him, and give him plenty of smells for him to sniff, that would be just fine.
After all, if he were in closed up in the air-conditioned car, with all the windows closed, he might be cool, but unhappy about not being able to sniff all those exciting smells

At best, Mr. Romney showed the poorest of judgment. At worst, he treated his family dog with heartless cruelty.

This is also the candidate who wants to “double Guantanamo” (per his remarks in a recent Republican candidates’ debate).

I think Mr. Romney is a mean man. I would not want him to be my country’s President.

Yes I think this should be an issue. Do we want a man who dosen’t have the common sence to not put a living animal in a container tied to the top of his vehicle? You din’t mention if the dog lived? Either way if this isn’t an obvious decision for him then what else is the guy clueless about?
