		<description><![CDATA[You know Gary, even when I was a little girl (and THAT&#039;S over 50 years ago!), I didn&#039;t like zoos, circuses etc, and I never knew why.  (I guess 4 year olds don&#039;t rationalize all that well.)  I can only assume that since seeing caged animals now really affects me, that had to be the reason even then.  I can still picture Tilly, the adult elephant, standing in her exhibit with her friend the donkey as her only companion.  The most exercise she got was sticking her noes through the bars to accept peanuts.  The enclosure, as I remember it, was no bigger than a 2 car garage; all cement and bars...sounds more like a cell to me!  So sad!!
