Dear Gary:
It’s a beautiful day in paradise — my tiny 12’ x 20’ garden on the second highest density street in Concord.
It is filled this morning with titmice, doves, goldfinches, chickadees, hummingbirds and a huge Cooper’s hawk floating overhead, searching for things for their nest just 5 big trees away. All of the birds love the fountain in the garden and they come to drink and bath … but it is the hummers who take visible joy in it.

I am attaching my favorite photo of a hummer bathing … his feet splayed, water droplets flying, his head and beak pressed into the water — he is really into it!
Round and round he goes … I have watched them for as long as 5 minutes at a time just simply having fun.
Hope they bring as big a smile to your face as they do to mine. Enjoy!

What can I say? I have such a big simile on my face, I can’t make my mouth work! /Gary

Hummers come to our bird bath/fountain, too. How do I keep pond scum from forming and still keep it safe for birds?
