When newly planted, I often cover the soil of hanging baskets window boxes and flower pots with chicken wire - it doesn&#039;t hurt the squirrels but means they cannot dig so easily. Depending on how the plants grow you can either leave the wire in place (the plants should cover it and stop it looking unsightly) or carefully remove it for use on another similar size container.]]></description>

I put down wire fencing over my vegetables  and that seemed to help, I haven&#039;t done it to my pots yet, it should work the same.  Good luck...  mj]]></description>
