I don’t know about these particular streetlight birds, but I recently noticed that a mom&pop bird had nested in a light fixture above the BART tracks at the Pleasant Hill BART station. I first noticed one bird gathering twigs, and the other “sitting guard” on the light fixture, and in the days that followed, as I paid more attention and listened more closely, I realized I could just barely see several little peepers stretching their mouths up to get the food that the parents were bringing. Then one day, I didn’t hear or see the birds. There are others that like to fly around the BART station, but I just hope that BART didn’t prematurely shoo these out of the nest, and that they instead had grown up and out on their own.

Could it be that the yellow light is on less long than either red or green?
