Barbara, Well stated. In addition to your thoughts, perhaps punitive assessments of a stinging percentage of his future earnings should me mandated by the courts or the NFL to be utilized to provide support for the passage of felony legislation for those convicted of animal abuse. The magnitude of his crime warrants this. This should come from Mr. Vicks himself, without any mandate.

More often than not, the best teachers are those whom have had firsthand experience. They know exactly what to look for in their students, when to step in, and how to help them change.

To this point, the majority of animal abuse is considered a misdemeanor charge. Our legislators–our “representatives”–are doing little to nothing to make animal abuse a felony conviction.

Maybe, just maybe, Vicks is the glimmer of hope that society needs to trigger the change in legislation, which, in turn, could eventually result in a change in human behavior.

I believe that I am willing to give Vicks that chance to set himself as an example of what can go wrong when one does not do things right.

I have to agree with JustAFan7. This poor excuse for a man didn’t give those dogs a chance at a good life (or any life at all for that matter!) Give him another chance? NEVER!

Michael Vick had opportunities for higher education, wealth,and fame. Instead, he chose, emphasize chose because no one put a gun to his head, to behave in a cruel, inhuman, and absolutely criminal way He had had plenty of chances; he doesn’t deserve another. He should be the poster boy for what happens when you think you are bigger than you are. Ban him now, ban him tommorow, ban him forever.

I think the Raiders should sign Michael. The man has paid for the crime. Now is the time to let him earn a living.
