Dear Gary:
HOT OFF THE PRESS … is the new Mt. Diablo State Park Trail Map, in its sixth edition.

Mt. Diablo Interpretive Association volunteers, in cooperation with the state park staff, spent two years bringing the trail information up to date, with improvements such as full color printing on weather resistant plastic and for GPS users a new UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) grid is provided.

With 187 miles of trails in the park to explore — and adjoining trails outside the park shown — the map will be an invaluable companion for park visitors. The back of the map contains information about the history, natural environment, and points of interest of Mount Diablo.

This new map is available at the Mitchell Canyon and Summit Visitor Centers as well as kiosks within the park. Including tax, it sells in the park for $6, or $7.50 by mail including postage (MDIA, P.O. Box 346, Walnut Creek, CA 94597-0346). MDIA members receive a 10% discount. It can also be found in local bookstores and sporting goods stores.

All profits go to support Mt. Diablo State Park for the benefit of the public.

Dear Edith:
I’m looking over the copy of this beautiful map you just sent me and it’s going to go into my day pack as soon as I finish reading-studying-enjoying it … in a couple of hours or so. I can hardly wait to get up on Diablo and start using it! /Gary
