A Canada goose we call “Mother Goose” started nesting on our rooftop here at the Contra Costa Times in Walnut Creek, CA,  five years ago and she has returned every spring since then to raise a new family of goslings.

She’s back again this year and you can watch our Mother Goose yourself during daylight hours via our new Webcam: http://www.contracostatimes.com/ci_14491539

Watch as long as you like. Have fun, we sure are! The eggs should hatch anytime after March 28. /Gary

    Hi Gary,

I’m really interested in your goosecam application. In particular, the technical details of putting one together to watch a dove’s nest. Which make and model of webcam are you using for continous operation and do you have a technical reference you could refer me to.

    Regards,

    Gene Farley

    Hi Gary,
I adore your column. I must comment on a gal that wrote in the other day with regard to her hyper giant Schnowzer (sp). Your advice was great, but you failed to mention that it’s also considered very healthy to ‘fix’ your animals, as they can get certain cancers, such as prostate. (He was a male if I remember correctly.)That would lead me to question my vet as well. Not to mention, with the animal homeless population so large, it’s just the right thing to do.
    Thanks for listening!

    Take Care,
    Jen
