My wife and I live in Point Loma, above Ocean Beach, which is on the Pacific Ocean and are in the city of San Diego,CA. I, also put out an occasional peanut for the jays that hang out here. When I am gardening or weeding around our 1/4 acre, I often find peanuts. We were wondering if the jay is just a packrat or does it eat the peanuts? Thanks for any input.

They are so cute I’d hate to piss them off, but we also have a cute cat his name is Leo. One passive animal and loves lights and shadows. He would not harm a feather on the two jays we have nesting in our oleander bush next to the deck outside our living room glass sliding door. The birds a “dive bombing” Leo obviously to protect the nest and subsequent infant.
