Just got this letter and photographs from Dave Harper of Oakley, Calif. Dave is one of our many talented local photographers who periodically e-mails me wonderful photos of local wildlife he has taken. Here are some more of Dave’s goodies. Enjoy yourself. /Gary
I’m sending recent photos of wildlife I have seen. Thanks to my friend Thom for allowing a special photo opportunity to capture baby barn owls in one of his large hay barns.
Also some pictures taken near Olympia Washington at Wolf Haven, a volunteer organization dedicated to providing habitat for wolves which cannot be re-introduced to the wild. They provide hourly tours with much education and information relating to current programs and status of wolf populations across the country.
Interestingly, only two documented wolf attacks on humans in our history. Both very recent because of people trying to get too close. Pictured are gray wolves and one shot of the red wolf which was originally an Eastern US wolf. Photos were taken through a cyclone fence which made things difficult.
Also black-necked stilt, osprey who had trouble with a large trout in San Pablo Reservoir near Orinda, CA. The large fish eagle had to leave without it.
