Sea lions on San Joaquin River, by Dale & Sue Jenlink, Discovery Bay, CA

Gary:
We saw these sea lions near the junction of the Mokelumne and San Joaquin rivers on Wednesday, Sept. 15. They were not bothered by our boat or camera.

Dale & Sue:
WOW! Fresh water sea lions!
Just kidding. Sea lions occasionally enter San Francisco Bay from the ocean and swim up the Sacramento River to the spot where you took these photos. They’re up there looking for salmon and striped bass to eat. Great photo, by the way! /Gary

Haiku for pier 39
Furry blubbery buddhas
Lying prostrate in sun
Feel they have found nirvana.
