“YUM! Green things!” said the gopher, as it munched away in somebody’s backyard.
I regularly get requests from my readers, asking what gophers look like. See above.

Sleek, furry, handsome — obviously the type to steal hearts as well as backyard plants. Devious little beasties, they are.
I’ve seen dead gophers because my parents once had a cat who specialized in hunting them. They had a big vegetable garden and the cat would hang out there all day, listening for gophers. She had a better kill record than my dad did with his traps, and she’d graciously leave the results of her hunting at the back door.

Actually had one for a pet in my bicycle shop for several years. Awesome pet, would tunnel in the dirt all day, would come out of tunnels for food when I tapped on glass of his aquarium. But, he did have some serious teeth, but very fun to watch
