P.S. They are orphaned. I don't know what happened to the mama. When I first saw them, they were about 7 inches from rump to tail. A call to the Lindsey Wildlife Hospital assured me they were old enough to fend for themselves. : )

Three baby fox squirrels showed up on the window sill of my office three weeks ago. I gave them some mandarin oranges that I had and they wolfed them down! The next day, I brought raw peanuts, sunflower seeds and more mandarins. I also fashioned a water dish out of a Sucret's box.

I have now researched more about what they eat and plan to bring blackberries and organic strawberries. I am tempted to build them a nesting box. The sill is about thirteen feet off the ground and covered with morning glory and ivy that they use to climb up. When I taped a rectangular box to the sill, about 12" long, 5" wide and 5" high, they spent time in there.

Can anyone recommend what a box for the squirrels might look like and if it should be filled with nesting material? I love watching them!
