We live on the edge of Acalanes Open Space, now that the cows are gone we are seeing more and more quail. It began last year, now they are frequent visitors parading along fence tops, running across the streets, making their very loud morning whistles. Prior to the last two years we saw no quail.

Handsome lookout guard! We used to have quail visit quite often here in my Lafayette garden. However for the last couple of years, not so much. We always experienced such delight to see the tiny fuzzy babies but also such dismay as their numbers dwindled. Roving cats and Scrub Jays were the culprits. Sure hope they come back. There seem to be less cats sculking about now.

Nice shot! We had a one perched on our front porch last Friday here in San Ramon. I went out to investigate and there were two more on the fence!
