CHILL OUT!
While wandering through the steaming hot rain forest jungle on a little island off the coast of Singapore in early October of last year, I came across these two wild pigs. They obviously knew how to deal with the horrific heat and humidity.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough room for me to join them. /Gary

Times are tough right now for many of our neighbors, friends and family. With so much financial unease in our communities, many companion animals are feeling the pinch as well. Many caretakers are not able to provide their animals with the medical care they might so desperately need.

I wrote the following reasons for voting YES on Prop 2 in my Times’ daily newspaper column on Sept. 7. Today is Wednesday (Oct. 29) and we will be voting on this issue next Tuesday (Nov. 4).
This is such an important issue, I want to remind you again why you should be giving Prop 2 a YES vote. I can’t think of any better way to say it than the way I did in my column, so here it is again:

One way to help stop some of the abuse of pigs and other farm animals on commercial factory farms in California is to vote YES on Prop 2 in November.
Prop 2 would prevent the cruel and inhumane confinement of calves raised for veal, breeding pigs, and egg-laying hens kept in crates and cages so small they cannot lie down, turn around, or extend their limbs.
