Surprise!!

A letter from the City of Hayward today! By the way, your water/sewer bill is going up in Oct 09. Oh did they forget to remind the citizen of Hayward that about a year ago the city discussed this issue. Were was the reminder a month or so before the Measure A election with a proper disclosure and explanation from the City that if you vote for Measure A not only will your bills increase by 5.5% now, but remember they will also increase again October 09. Well good thing we have the 5.5% sales tax, we should be able divert some of that new money to off set any increase to our water/sewer bills.

Interesting Article in the Daily Review on Wed

http://www.insidebayarea.com/dailyreview/localnews/ci_12453103

Well lets see, for all those that supported measure A expecting to help close the gap on Haywards Budget Deficit no what? It is always interesting when a government agency imposes a tax on something like utilites which as well all know are trying to get all folks to conserve energy and use less. Use less and become more green, excellent; oops less tax revenue.

Our Governor recently announces a proposed $1.50 tax on cigarets but isn't there a national campaign to get people to quit smoking. Less people smoking less tax income. oops

It seems it would be better to look towards areas we want the public to use more of in we want to take and encourage the population to use and enjoy.

In regards to item # 16, I think the Board should compare these figures to people who had to accept voluntary demotions or reduction in hours. 18% sounds better to me and certainly isn't going to break their lifestyle. Remember, they still have car allowances, etc., let's see all the perks and put the cards on the table.

In regards to item 5, seperate meters means a lower cost for irrigation, apparently you don't understand.
Water on the ground that goes to your building is still being billed for sanitary sewage treatment (money the district is putting down the drain). Try contacting the City of Hayward ( or even better, the City of Berkeley who has the highest sewage treatment costs in the county) to find out how the process of how you may have to pay for your sewage and water. Better planning on the part of H.U.S.D is to blame, the city is only doing their part by billing on the system that is currently in use.

Well the May 27th HUSD Agenda is out and if you check H.11 you will see that one of our top Administrators is reducing his work year by 5 days which results in a reduction of his annual salary from $178,293 to $174,667. Now if my calculations are correct this is a difference of $3625.94 per year a whopping .020337% salary reduction. Yes, All Means All at HUSD.

The 18% reduction mentioned a couple of weeks ago sounds more in order now

Justwatching:

at # 11 The lack of dedication is the fault of HUSD. Have you ever noticed how they seek volunyteers, then kiss them off almost as soon as the desired tasks are done.!

I had suggested, more than once that the school ciommunity tune in to the Hayward City website and at the link: 'commissions' stroll through the lengthy list of such groups such as Library Commission,. Planning Commission, etc and you see nine such bodies at which, when all the seats are filled there are over 100 folks serving terms up to 8 years on an unpaid basis who hash out ideas brought to them, test them against common sense and then make trecopmmendations to City Council for final action.

At HUSD THERE IS ONLY ONE SUCH COMMISSION.... THGREE PEOPLE ON THE PERSONNEL COMMISSION WHOSE RESPONSIBILITIES ARE PRETTY LIMITED SINCE THE UNIONS DEDAL DIRECTTLY WITH ADMINISTRATION WITH SOME HEAD BOBBING BY TRUSTEES.

THE BIG FEAR AT ADMINISYTRATION IS THAT THEY WILL BE DRAGGED DOWN BY ATTENDENCE AT COMMISSION MEETINGS. aDMINISTRATION WANTS TOT6AL; CONTRIOL OF ALL MATTERS FROM BEGINING TO END..... US POORE SLOBS KNOW NOTHING! RIGHT?

SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINE THE EDUCATION DIRECTED TO CRENDTIALING AND ADMINISTRATION OF CREDENTIALED EMPLOYEES HARBORS A FEAR OF PUBLIC INPUT BROUGHT TO THEMN BY COMMISSIONS SET UP TO WEED OUT THE NONSENS. jUST AS IF ALL THE TAX PAYERS LACK COMMON SEWNSE AND EXPERIENCE..... ARE WE GOOD ONLY FOR PROCREATION OF THE CHILDREN WHO THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO EDUCATE?

AS TO POLICE AND FIRE 'SALARIES' SINCE WHEN IS 'OVERTIME' CONSIDERED A SALARY?

bE MINDFUL TOO OF WHAT i POINTED OUT ABOUT HIGHER RATES OF COST WHEN DETERMING LIFE INSURACEINSURANCE PREMIUMS AND JOB RELATED RISKS TO HEALTH AS WELL AS LIFE!

I HAD AN UNCLE WHO WAS A FIREMAN AND WHO WAS HIT BY AN AUTO, ON HIS REAQR END WHEN BENT OVER THE TASK OF WINDING UP A FIRE HOSE. THE DAMN DRUNK DARN NEAR KILLED HIM AND HE WAS LUCKY THAT HE LIVED TO WORK AGAIN.

HIS dAD, MY GRANDFATHER WAS SEWVERELY INJURED WITH BROKEN RIBS WHEN HIS OLD 'KEYSTONE COPS' TYPE POLICE CAR BROKE THE WOODEN WHEEL SPOKES. AS AN INSPECTOR OF POLICE THE HEARD A RADIO CALL, AND EVEN THOUGH HE WAS HEAQDED HOME, DECIDED HE'S JOIN CHASE.... STILL ON THE JOB AT AGE 69, THE INJURY CAUSED PNEUMONIA AND HE DIED. THE cIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION DENIED THE PENSION ON THE BASIS OF THE IDEA THAT HEW MUST HAVE LIED ABOUT HIS AGE WHEN HE WAS HIRED ON SOME 35 YEARS EARLIER.

oF cOURSE THE jUDGE OVERRULED THE DENIOAL WWHERE UPON gRANDMOTHER PROCL;AIMED THAT SHE WOULD LIVE 'FOREVER'
AS A MEANS OF GETTING EVEN FOR THE DISYTRESS.... SHE DAMN NEAR PULLED THAT OFF HAVING LIVED WELL PAST 90.

tHE POINT OFD THAT STORY IS TO ILLUSTRATE WHAT SOME PEOPLE GO THROUGH AS RESULT OF JOB RELATED PROBLEMS WHENM WORKING FOR fire AND police DEPARMENTS.

i DO NOT BEGRUDGE THEM ONE NICKEL OF THETR REPORTED EARNINGS. hELL WE PAY OUR sCHOOL sUPERINTENDEDNT ABOUT $250,000... AMD LOOK WHAT WE GET!

AS TO YOUR THOUGHT ABOUT PEOPLE NOT WANTING TO GET INVOLVED FOR FEAR OF RETALIATION........ WHEN INJUSTICE TO CHILDREN OR PERSONAL WELL BEING IS DONE AND THERE IS NO RESPONSE FOR FEAR OF RETALIATION, THEN CLEARLY OUR LOCAL CITIZENRY IS LARGELY COMPOSED OF COWARDS. oR ARE THEY JUST PLAIN LAZY?

THAT SUGGESTS TO ME THAT THOSE WHO FEAR RETALIATION CAUSED BY PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT IN ANY ACT TO CORRECT SOCIETY'S ILLS, HAVE ANOTHER WORRY.....

HOW DO SUCH PARTIES EXPLAIN 'INACTION', ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT, WHEN FAILING TO RESPOND TO MORAL NEED?

Mr. Kyle

I read you long dissertation in response to Watch Dog and I must say I commend you on your community involvement over the years to the Longwood School and the Community and if we had equal community involvement and the other HUSD sites, the Hayward Unified School District would much better off but the reality is there isn't this kind of dedication and involvement. Community involvement and awareness of their own School surroundings my help solve Hayward's Graffiti at our school sites issues but so may people are afraid to get involved do to retaliation to their families or property and there isn't any amount of police officers that can be hired to guarantee their safety from this retaliation.

Again, I must take my hat of to you and your group for a job well done.
