If I used an expression leading to belief of a lack of understanding the expression mSRO, please forgive me.

On February 10th I again raised the issue concerning the Heavy use of acronyms in the Board’s agenda….. We need a glossary of acronyms to enable a satisfactory read of the damn agenda…. Or haven’t you noticed that failure which of itself puts the Board in the position of being indifferent to the public‘s need.?

I can’t believe you don’t know what an SRO is by now, unless you are just taking this opportunity to yet again complain about the accronym overuse issue, (in this I agree with you.)

School Resource Officer- There was a big stink about the school district trying to usurp the power to decide which police officers were assigned to help at the local schools.

This was even discussed by the city council, who fully backed the police chief in saying no to the school district’s plan to revise the contract between the police dept. and HUSD.

Sorry, but when the big yellow bus parks in a red zone, thus obscuting the cross walk, then the crossing guard function is not the City’s responsibility but that of the School District.

I had not heard that tyhe City had dumped ALL RESPONSIBILITY ONTO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. wHEN I HAVE A MOMENT i’LL STICK MY NOSE ION THAT CRANNY….

What in blazes is an ‘SRO problem’ (STANDING ROOM ONLY??

Ever read an agenda prior to a Trustee meeting? A large part of the HUSD problem is that those preparing the asgenda and then rising to address the questions posed by the board, speak and write in a tongue called “acronymic double speak”.

This helps keep the public from asking questions; THUS IT AIDS IN CONFUSING THE GENERAL PUBLIC WHO LARGELY DO NOT HOLLD ADVANCED DEGREES FROM MAJOR UNIVERSITIES.

IT ALSO HOLDS DOWN NUMEROUS, UNNECESARY QUESTIONS BY THE PUBLIC WHO FEAR BEING SEEN IGNORANT BECAUSE THEY LACK ADVANCED DEGREES……..

ONE OF THESE DAYS THEY MIGHT SUGGEST TO SOME COLLEGE PROGFESSOR, WHO BEING OBLIGED TO ‘WRITE OR PERISH’ WILL BE GIVEN NATIONAL RECOGNITION WHEN HE PUBLISHES THE FIRST GLOSSARY OF ACCRONYMS FOR USE AT PUBLIC MEETINGS OF THE MANY BOARDS OF TRUSTEES, EXISTENT IN CALIFORNIA.

SALE OF A GLOSSARY COVERING JUST THE ACCRONYMS USED IN LATE EVENINGS DISCUSSION OF THE AHENDA, DOES NOT HAVE TO COVER ALL THE ACCRONYMS USED BY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS…. that would be a lost opportunity for sales of a program at the next gathering.

Shucks, it might be possible to publish a glossary, GATHEREED froM just one meeting at a time. None of our parents etc. would be smart enough to save them and put all on a computer so to permit preparation of a totally compleX list of accronym definitions….. AT
$0.50 PER MEETING THAT COULD ADD UP TO MAYBE $20. PER YEAR.

NAH…! MOST OF HAYWARDITES WOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO GLEAN ALL THE ACCRONYMS FOR IMPORTANT ISSUES, PUT ‘EM IN A NINDER AND REFER TO THEM CARRY IT AROUND FOR THE BALANCE OF THE YEAR.

TT WOULD SPOIL THINGS FOR THE TRUSTEES AND GOD KNOWS, IN THEIR DESIEE TO “MAKE A DIFFERENCE” NONE APPRECIATE THE PLIGHT OF THOSE NEW PARENTS WHO START ENROLLING CHILDREN WITHOUT BEING AWARE OF THE DISDAIN IN WHICH THEY ARE HELD….. HELL,LET US HOPE NOT BECAUSE BY USE OF A GLOSSARY OF ACRONYMS,THEY MIGHT BEGIN ASKING QUESTIONS AND CAUSING TIME DELAY BEFORE ADJOURNMENT.
