Election 2010! Nomination papers update

Nomination papers aren’t due until March 12 for the Hayward mayoral election, and since the council incumbents aren’t seeking re-election, that race doesn’t have to be officially entered until March 17. But a quick check to see who took out papers found Mike Sweeney as the sole interested party for mayor so far, and the the following for two City Council seats (includes links to Web sites, or soon-to-be Web sites, if available):

Ralph Farias Jr.

Sara Lamnin

Anna May (who has since said she does not intend to run)

Steven Oiwa

Marvin Peixoto

Mark Salinas

Here’s a handy Registrar of Voters site that can keep you filled in on filers. Click on “Candidate Filed Log” to access the .pdf file. Hayward races are on the last page (mayor and “counil”, oops) and are empty at the moment. But take a look at page 26, under the Alameda County Superintendent of Schools.

No, Hayward schools trustee Luis Reynoso is not considering a run for Sheila Jordan’s spot. “I was just exploring, but I’m not. There’s no news there,” he said today.

WELL, IT APPEARS THAT MS.lAMNIN AND MR PEIXOTO ARE SERIOUS CANDIDATES! lENGTHY RESUME AND LENGTHY ENDORSEMENTS ARE SHARP! THEY HAVE BEEN PREPARING BY MEANS OF INVOLVMENT WHICH IS IMPRESSIVE AS WELL AS LENGTHY IN TERMS OF INTEREST AND PERFORMANCE IN CITY ORIENTED ACTIVITY. I HAVE ENDORSED PEIXOTO AND AM DEEPLY IMPRESSED BY MS. lAMNIN’S INVOLVMENT! GIVEN THE FACT THAT MR. SALINAS ANNOUNCED QUITE EARLY, ONE WOULD THINK HIS CAMPAIGN WEBSITE WOULD BE MORE IMPRESSIVE THAN IT IS PRESENTLY.

Will Mark Salinas surprise us and complete his opportunity for a grand revision of his ‘blog’ post of candidacy statement on St. Patrick’s Day?

EARLY TO BED EARLY TO RISE DOES NOT SEEM APPLICABLE TO EFFORTS BY MARK SALINAS. MY MEMORY SEEMS TO RECALL THAT HE WAS FIRST TO DECLARE HIS CANDIDACY, YET HE HAS YET TO FILE HIS NOMINATION PAPERS AND HIS RATHER BLEAK WEBSITE, AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME. IS QUITE BARREN.

ASSUMING HE WAS ELECTED,IS THAT TARDINESS AN INDICATION SUGGESTIVE OF HOW HE WOULD SERVE THE CITY?

Happy to see Mark’s we3b site for election period is up and running. Also pleased to see that he is a candidate who promises to “make a difference”!

Sorry Mark, I committed to Ms. Lamin and Mr Piexoto!… those folks are deeply committed as evidenced by past involvment in a broader spectrum of community particiapation.

Good luck with the breaakfast club…. I was involved around 1995 or 1996 at Longwood School, a heavily hispanic population which just failed to attend breakfast in sufficient numbers to make it worthwhile…. we did hand out much food that had been provided by St. Vincent de Paul Society etc… and I was pleased to be able to solicit from community $300 to $400 dollars of kitchen equipment, first in cash and then by hard bargaining……. have you still the use of it?
    Good luck!

If you ever discover the name of my purposeful (?) antagonist on the HAYWORD Blog, advise him I bear no ill will, despite his attacks.
